Hate conference realignment with a passion and wish there was some way we could go back to the 2000s alignment, which made historical and geographic sense.

That said, there is a fascinating Game of Thrones aspect to it all. Major kudos to Big 12 leadership. That conference was left for dead multiple times.

Big 12 is still a little kid trying to hang with the adults they are losing their two best teams to the SEC.

It's the SEC and Big Ten and everyone else is below them.

I guess

Taking the teams that no one else wants when their conference folds I suppose can get a kudos

They still don't matter

They should probably just get a "good job not F'ing up like the P12 did" but potato potatoe

Big Ten and SEC have all the power in next 5-10 years they are going to use that power to bully everyone else into giving them what they want.

I wonder what miracle Stanford boosters are trying to pull together. Can't see them being happy about being in the same conference as Wyoming and New Mexico.

This is correct

I'll be in my 50's before any other conference potentially matters

I'm not saying there can't be a random team here or there that wins something big, with a 12 team who knows, but as far as the "haves vs. have nots" on a Conference and money level

I'll be close to retirement before that happens

They should just go ahead and join the Ivy League Conference.

If there were any close, I'm sure they would. Maybe they try going independent.

So if Oregon and Washington do accept a partial share and join Big Ten, does that open the door to other schools negotiating different size shares in the future? Kind of the same question I asked last night about Alabama/Georgia/LSU looking at Mizzou/Vandy and wondering why they're getting paid the same amount.

Kind of crazy Washington and Maryland are going to be in the same conference. Heck of a conference road trip.

No Oregon and Washington will get full shares at either agreed upon date or when B1G does TV deal again. All teams share equal TV revenue if a full member.

Guessing to make it eaiser on travel the west coast teams will have something like 3-4 home games in the Big Ten schedule at home in a row then go 3-4 game road trip were they stay on road and won't have to travel as much.

Sure that's the case now. But if all this realignment is about money, then how long until the elite schools in the Big Ten / SEC start looking at the other schools in their conference and think 'I bring more to the table, I should get more money than them'. I mean, that's essentially what FSU is lobbying for in the ACC.

Did not the ACC already do that were winning teams get a bigger piece of the pie and that's why FSU is now crying saying well we draw ratings so we should get a bigger piece of the pie.

Rutgers, Maryland and Nebraska did the same 10+ years ago when they joined the B1G. Im not sure when, but they eventually started earning the same full share as the rest.

They didnt do anything special besides be in a great location. Once USC and UCLA left, the PAC lost the LA market. Huge blow that wasnt going to be remedied with any available school(s). The media deal was never going to recover from that.

Not happening the Ivy League doesn't field competitive teams because there are no scholarships.

Weirdly Harvard has had a smattering of fringe NFL players over the years and produced Fitz-Magic and Birk.

You're not wrong, but at least the Big 12 is still alive and kicking. The very existence of the Pac 12 - and the long term prospects for the ACC as well - are very much in doubt.

Plus the Big 12 will be every bit as good as either of those 2 in basketball.

So read that there is a $32 million fee to pay to the MWC if a team would try to leave before the 2025 season and everyone is leaving the Pac-12 after this season leaving a possible 2024 season of only 4 teams in the Pac-12.

So now if only Cal, Stanford, Oregon State, and Washington State are left do they go the Independent route for a season then try to convince the MWC teams to come and reform the PAC-12 in 2025?

As mentioned to me the CFP are expanding. At some point bowl tie-in's by conf will be a thing of the pass and all the top tier bowl games will be playoff games instead.
