That’s actually pretty easy. All holders are see though on both sides, so you just flip it around to whichever one you want to show at any time. I would just switch back and forth with which one I want to show at the time.

There is only one page in the book where both sides are signed

I'd 100% be on the same page in your shoes (though with only cats to pass it on to, that part would have to vary slightly).

Definitely worth checking to see if the HoF would be interested in a loan, though.

Until you're able to get some of the others to sign their page!

I’ve got $26 on it
Seriously though, what an incredible piece of history chronicling the early titans of the sport.

Was just coming here to say this.

I wonder what the story behind this is and how so many autographs ended up in the book. Would also be interesting to know what happened to the Ruth/Cobb pages, not that there'd ever be any way of knowing.

OP, you said that came from an estate auction. Any chance you could talk to family members to find out the story? Although in this day and age you never know what people would do to get it back if they found out it was worth $$.

You know the real kicker in all of this is that there were two books in this online auction and I bid on the book that looked to be in the best condition. Makes you wonder what was in the other book and if the winner knows what they might have in their possession.

Yea. This is one of those things that they make TV episodes about.

This is a great find for sure.

This book was really common for people to get autographs, albeit an expensive option at the time when it came out.

What does the cover look like? What color? There are two different versions of the cover (both had a wrap-around as well, but rarely appear these days).

If the cover is purple, it should have a stamped name in gold on the front. This would mean that it was that specific player's copy as a token for contributing to the book.

Regardless, a great find. I have some autographed pages from it, along with two complete (unsigned) books.

At least these would be excellent quality cut autos, I hate seeing topps use autos of Ed Willia and Oe Dimaggi.

Congrats!... What an awesome story and find!

I'm happy for you and your son, and my heart is happy to hear that the book will remain intact and in your family.

If nothing else, just take it to the "Pawn Stars" fools to see what kind of ridiculous low ball offer they give.

Are they Ruth & Cobb?

Just let everyone in the family know how much $ it is potentially. I will ask my buddies on Monday what they think of a value. With 40 yrs of experience it will be in the ballpark. Also, check if you can add it to your homeowners insurance. They will want an appraisal and those photos.
Still Jealous,
Vinny
PS: my kids are grown and are not into collectibles. If I had it and died it may go to a flea market

Ok, so that's the "regular" consumer edition. Does it have the outer cover wrap or just the red cloth cover? These didn't do very well, but it's not surprising considering the economic environment of the Great Depression at the time.

So many of these books have been chopped up (autographed or not) and sold off as pages. I happened to acquire the player edition of the player who was the primary reason I chased the complete book and I have since picked up a red version too. Tons of great content.

Great to see.

You’re describing flipper behavior, the remaining collectors would offer a fair price.
