I'm hoping this weekend was an anomaly. For a few months now I've been averaging about 7 -10 cards a day and slightly higher on the weekends, but this past weekend I had 0 sales on Saturday (not even believable) and only 4 sales on Sunday. My listings are predominantly mid grade vintage (mostly semi highs and highs) from 1957 to 1979.

There was a very big show on the east coast Fri, Sat and Sun (that I was set up at) that was very well attended, but I didn't think that would have hurt eBay sales.

Anybody else have a rough sales weekend?

I wound up around the same in terms of volume this past F, Sa, Su, compared to the previous weekend, but down ~50% compared to 2 weekends ago.

I had 19 sales from Thursday to Sunday (only 1 Sunday), I was also on vacation mode too. It is always a hit or miss for sales when I am away for a long weekend.

Is that 7 day average of $90 a day about normal for you?

The “preview” hasn’t been working. I like to give it a quick peek before I list, but have had to list without it the last couple days.

My first month of running an actual eBay "store" resulted in 23 sales which is nice. I usually add about 5-10 listings a week with a 5.5% conversion rate which gives me the confidence to try to scale up my operation

Did you have any issues with your account. A return in the past few days or a late shipment? I notice whenever this happens, regardless of the reason, my account takes a hit for a few days. I think this goes into the algorithm when deciding how high your search ranks.

Don't know if that happened to you, but just thought I would throw that out there.

My weekend sales were also intriguing. My impressions were up, but sales were down.

I decided to check Terapeak and did a very unscientific test for the week. I used the term "baseball card" and got daily sales volume for that term for BIN listings. Here were the results from this past week...

Mon - 34,186
Tue - 36,598
Wed - 38,423
Thu - 37,505
Fri - 40,333
Sat - 41,470
Sun - 41,790

I am sure that this has been answered here before, but what are good numbers for the click through rate and the sales conversion rate?

I pay zero attention to click through rate. A good sales conversion varies on your inventory. Typically anything above 7% or so is in good territory.

Just a reminder on what sales conversion rate is...

"The number of sales transactions divided by the number of listing page views."

There are so many interesting/useful calculations that we can make to help with how the store is going. (t doesn't paste very well with excel). Sales conversion on the left (starting with 7.24% and Sell through rate on right with 7.71%. Overall I think I am pretty consistent and selling well.

Sales Conversion Rate Sell Through Rate (STR)

1/31/2023 7.24% 7.71%
2/28/2023 5.97% 5.53%
3/31/2023 7.04% 5.56%
4/30/2023 7.96% 4.54%
5/31/2023 7.21% 4.64%
6/30/2023 5.71% 4.22%
7/31/2023 6.93% 4.08%

I agree with others click through is not really important to me impressions conversion and STR are the key. STR should be from .5% to 1% for most sellers. Conversion should be ideally be over about 5% but it depends on the amount of listings you have as well. less than 100 listings I would want a higher number more than 1000 then the 5% is a good point.

There are lots of variables than can affect that numebr though. Auctions tend to gain more views and could skew your conversion rate overall. Or you list something everyone wants to see but very few want to buy.(listed one such item last week) Its getting views and watchers like crazy to the point I will take it down in a few days and relist it to reset it.

I went 23 hours and 39 minutes from Sunday afternoon to Monday afternoon without a single sale. Needless to say, that is well outside the range of what I'd consider normal. For the two days I just processed (Saturday-Monday afternoon) my total sales and packages were within the normal range of variance though, so take it as you will.

It looks like we'll soon be able to select 1500 items when we run a sale. I tried to tonight but at the end there was an error message, so I ended up with just the normal 500.

I currently run for more than 500 items based on criteria, which allows newly listed items that meet the criteria to be automatically included as well.

I just used this one for my latest sale and had 1400 items plus new listings. I like it better than the 500 or the new 1500. This is because the new listings can be added as you go.

The reason I don't like to use the criteria is because it's too difficult to exclude items. I'm only running sales on older inventory, so I'm not worried about the new stuff getting in there.

I bought a lot of around 1300 basketball cards, a lot of them are Contenders and Contenders Draft, $1.00 cards at best.

I would like to get them gone, and if I can do that by running sales (like a buy 3, get one free, or a buy X and get X% off). Can I just run a sale on particular cards?
