Default Got to meet Byron Leftwich and Chad Pennington

Had the opportunity to go to the Marshall U QuarterbackClubReverse Raffle with my wife last night. Got to meet Byron Leftwich and Chad Pennington, along with other former players. It was an amazing experience!

Pennington was one of my all-time favorite QBs. i really really really wanted the 49ers to draft him back in 2000, but i knew it was never going to happen. and we had him right in our hands, but picked Julian Peterson instead.

if he hadn't gotten hurt in that stupid preseason game, he would have been a Jets legend.

Pennington reminds all of us that eating pizza is OK

Am I making a joke? I am not

That’s how a 45 year old dude should look

The wrinkles in the blazer are killing me.

But yes, his aesthetic is somebody who killed 5 slices, threw his blazer on and told his wife to heat the other 5 up for him when he gets back in a couple hours.

I used to like watching Pennington as a young player. He had a real shot at being a great player before the arm injury.

Loved Pennington when he was on the Fins. Was such a fun team. Wish he stayed healthy for 3-4 more seasons.

Met Pennington in 2000 when the Jets played in Green Bay. Awesome dude, super down to earth and personable. Was very easy to root for him!

Too cool!
Lots of nice signed memorabilia pieces, too!

Thanks everyone…they were both incredibly nice. I had the jerseys and helmet since they got drafted…finally was able to get them signed.

Very cool, Chad is absolute class every time I have met him in Huntington. Oddly enough, I have never seen Leftwich on campus in my 7 years of living down there. I saw Randy, Ahmad, Troy, Chad, pretty much everyone else but Byron. Did he have his super bowl ring haha.

Leftwich has TWO Super Bowl rings! I hope he gets another coaching job soon. He more than deserves another shot. I was always a little surprised Pennington never pursued a coaching career in the NFL after his playing days.

I’ve lived in Huntington for the past 20 years, and this is the first time I’ve heard of him back that I can recall. I have met all the greats, including Randy Moss on 4 separate occasions. Leftwich didn’t have any Super Bowl ring on unfortunately. I’ve always wondered why Pennington hasn’t tried coaching in the league or college. He is currently coaching high school in Lexington.

That is right, you are correct! I always forget he was the Steelers back up. Chad was a journalism major, I think he enjoys being in the booth from time to time, but I think he would be a heck of a coach.

Chad might be happy coaching high school kids. it's about happiness in the end.
