I won't doubt they miss playoffs. This is a team that might be a year or two away until they can get back.

So we all agree, right?

This was arguably the worst draft trade ever.

How many "good" GM's are there if Lynch isn't considered one?? I know I've seen a Browns fan and Cowboys fan chime in, but I can only assume that's in good humor

Yes.
Not sure if it is considered a 'trade' but Vikes 'passing' Byron and eventually picking Kevin Williams ranks up there.

Definitely up there. Couldn't believe the move at the time. They've had success on their day 2 picks that have helped a bit, but if Lynch never gets them a Super Bowl it doesn't matter how successful a team he had..people will only remember what could have been with that draft capital. I'm trying not to sound biased but I see another Super Bowl appearance from the 49ers in the next year or two though so that would help

For just a fourth round pick I approve of this trade. Normally Jerry would give up 3 first rounders for this type of trade. I don’t think Lance had had enough reps to be written off yet. This will give him time to develop. Dak needs some competition. I also feel like Purdy will be a one hit wonder.

I certainly like the bold stroke to flip a 4th for a lottery ticket by the Cowboys.

At worse, he doesn't pan out and he's gone after a couple years. At best, he maybe is a soft landing for a Dak-less future and unlocks all of that ability he showed in Fargo.

Kevin Williams is probably going to be in Canton one day.

Byron will get in with a ticket.

Also, upon further reflection - I'm not a psychopath 49er fan, I am a sociopath 49er fan.

Just wanted to set that straight.

The ultimate irony here is Purdy is Dak.

A rookie campaign with inimitable success due to an unexpected injury.

Treyday to Dirty D finna fund this week's chicken pot pie splurge.

I'm mashallah for it.

i don’t see how this trade helps Lance though. at best, he’s #2 on the depth chart eventually, then he waits until 2025 to potentially get a full gig if Dak leaves?

Not as much as the 49ers will miss having their favorite punching bag in the playoffs.

I think he will beat out Dak for the starting job long before that, but even if he has to wait until 2025 to take over as the franchise QB, he will still only be 25 years old. Tom Brady didn't have his first full season as a starting QB until he was 25 and some QBs (like Hendon Hooker this year) enter the draft at that age. Trey Lance still has a bright future ahead of him as a top NFL QB.

I can't see Dallas picking up the 5th year option on Lance. If Dak plays well this year and it's clear he has the starters job locked down I think Dallas will look to trade Lance before the 2024 draft as Lance will be going into the last year of his rookie contract. Perhaps they can get 6th round pick back for him instead of letting him go in FA for nothing after the 2024 season.

The only difference between Love and Lance is a leg injury and a couple games starting experience.

Both bums.

Love has looked good so far in pre-season. If he becomes an above average starter for the Packers that's all I will ask for.
