If we trust Terapeak for that info, 3 have been paid for, averaging $355 per sale.

Acuna just sold yesterday for $740, doesn't appear in Terapeak yet.

Yeah, Topps messed this one up big time. Too rare across products randomly and no one cares. Maybe numbering, odds, or something else could have generated more hype, or at least making sure an attractive checklist that included a JRod was pulled early on.

These are nowhere close to searching for the the Willy Wonka Golden Ticket.

Jabs hit a Julio Rodriguez Hidden Gem out of a 2023 Bowman Retail box. At the 40 minute mark

We were hoping these would be as rare as 1998 flair showcase perfect 10 insert cards.

They are turning out to be more like donruss crusades.

Topps also messed up on the Wander Franco 2022 Topps Series 1 redemption autos by inserting the actual live autographed cards into the 2022 series 2 product

Which card(s) are you referring to?

Anyone else kinda expecting to see a color refractor or superfractor of a hidden gem pop-up? Especially since topps put the chrome logo on them

I know a guy who also hit a Julio HG so how rare are these exactly, now popping up in newer releases and suddenly popping up everywhere.

While Fanatics/Topps (whatever) has proven that they can do what they want and may not have rhyme or reason for doing so, I think we MAY be able to speculate a few things at this point.

These have been found in 3 “major” releases so far - Topps Series 1, Bowman, and Heritage. Maybe we can expect them in a the remaining 2023 “major” releases… Series 2, Update, Bowman Chrome, Bowman Draft, Topps Chrome, Topps Chrome Update, and Heritage High number. That would be 10 total “releases” of Hidden Gems… a nice round number.

There have been 12 different players so far from the 3 releases. These subjects can be broken down into Legends (Jackie and Mays), Stars (Acuna, Soto, Julio, deGrom, and Trout), and Rookies (Riley Greene, Morel, Carroll, Adley, and Gorman).

Total assumption - I think there are probably 3 players from the Heritage release that haven’t surfaced yet. If we can accept that, it means that each “major” release will contain Hidden Gems of 5 different players. This results in 50 players in the checklist dispersed across 10 different releases throughout 2023.

While it would make sense for the total checklist will include 10 Legends, 20 Stars, and 20 Rookies, I think it will be closer to 5 Legends with 22/23 Stars and Rookies (each). It would be fun to run a contest to see who the subjects would be… Mantle, Ruth, Banks(?), Michael Harris II, Verlander, etc

Biggest question for all of this is whether the print run for each player is and/or will be the same. The pack odds for these are different for each release, but that corresponds to the disparity in total production for each release. Series 1 was printed to the moon, and the first one didn’t show up for over a month. By contrast, we already have several different players from Heritage on release day.
Then again, I’m not sure that the PR for Series 1 was THAT much higher than Heritage.

Just my view - subject to change on what we see moving forward.

I now have 3 total, but sticking with the RC ones. With that said, a Hank was pulled in a Heritage break on YouTube - and it’s VERY attractive!

If no one replies to this post, I’ll stop updating it with info

Series 1 released on February 15th, and the first Hidden Gem (Mays) was posted online on March 26th.

Since then, multiple subjects (with duplicates in some cases) have appeared on the release days for Bowman, Heritage, and Series 2.

I think that’s proof that either (1) these weren’t equally packed out at the beginning of series 1 (2) series 1 was printed 10-20x the other products, or (3) both.

Fanatics has done nothing but screw the pooch since they took over.

This is ridiculous.

The other interesting thing about the listings is that many of the titles are formatted the same way. Something still seems funny about the way these were packed out.

I haven’t kept an eye on them enough to notice. What are the similarities?

I think a lot more people use the "sell one like this" or "sell similar" buttons for rare listings. Not surprised title construction is similar, I see this a lot with sealed wax, too.

I'm guilty - I almost always borrow another listing for my rapid fire listings, and so I agree it's not "suspicious" to me that the listing titles are similar.

Regarding these cards, I am just very happy none fit my PC so far and pray that the rest of them follow suite. I imagine they are nice quality but the design is really lazy and not worthy of the cost/rarity, IMO. I have a very specific PC chase and if one of these ends up fitting, I'll begrudgingly be purchasing.

Seems that the "Let's Go" insert is also following this format, first seen (by me anyway) in '23 Big League but I think it is also cross-product. That's also a nice insert, and so far the Acuna fits my PC and I'm happy I found one.

Remember when people were so desperate trying to figure out what the big thing Topps said was going to be in the product...that they thought it might be a black piece of paper that got stuck in a pack by accident by the machine?
