Strider just really needs to work on that 3rd pitch more. If he can't, he'll still turn into one of the best closers in MLB for the foreseeable future. That 3rd and 4th time through the lineup is what kills him.

Strider has excelled with a combination of two plus pitches and perfect location. When he starts missing his spots, he's a very average pitcher.

When you have a fastball that has no movement on it, location is crucial. He needs to learn to use the change up more.

Can’t wait for the first book to post 2024 odds. I’ve been buying and selling tickets all year with some really nice profits. Still sitting on a little Snell and a good bit more Steele.
Betting isn’t susceptible to “market downturns” like cards so I’ve been supplementing the Mac n cheese, gas $, vacation cash more with this stuff this year. It kinda gives me the itch to dive back into betting on a larger scale again. It was my primary source of income for a few years from like 06-09.

Steele only uses 2 pitches... he changes the batters eye constantly.

High-low. Inside-outside

The hitters have a hard time locking in on his tendencies... weak contact is the result.

Fangraphs' Cy Young prediction tool:

https://www.fangraphs.com/projections/cy-young

As of today it looks like Cole in the AL, and the top five in the NL are Strider, Steele, Wheeler, Snell and Gallen.

It will be good to see Cole finally get it as he had one of the best seasons ever to NOT win it in 2019.

I've thought about this too. I should really just sign up for an account and figure out if I can sell tickets back to the online books.

Man NL is so unknown for all awards except ROY.

Seems CY keeps changing every month. From Gallen, to Strider, to Snell, and now Steele.

Most books have decided it’s a 2 horse at this point with
Snell -200 and Steele +160-ish(with Steele being a decent value at that price I think)

For those who see the possibility of both of those two Sh-ing the bed in the last 5(?)starts you can find
Wheeler around 50-1
I see a few 75-1’s available for both Gallen and Strider

Complete game shutout.

Enough to get back in the race?

Absolutely it is. Critical game for the Dbacks.

Wheeler is so underrated.

Considering how they’ve been hitting and in their park I give him credit for holding them to two for sure.

Did Gallen just get a 7.5x bump in one start? Man leverage is fun.

If Steele can pickup another win with a strong line today he’s right there with a great shot to take this thing I think. As much as W-L is outta their hands 17-3 is pretty to look at with a nice WHIP advantage to nullify Snell’s K lead IMO.

Steele with a Steele performance

7 IP 6 H 1 ER 0 BB 6 Ks - 95 pitches

It's 1-1 and I think he has enough left to go 1 more inning. I bet he's good for 110.

Forgot to add... ERA is now 2.49. Leads the world

Steele gained a little more ground today.

Currently leads the ML in ERA. 2.49

Snell +170
Steele -170
Gallen +1100
Wheeler +8000
Strider +10000

Gallens shutout helped but after today it's still a 2 person race.
