Go to Philly and team up with Harper.

When a player in the Prime “24-31 just turned 32”, of his career is closing in on missing 1/3 of all his games during that Prime era, it’s a body issue. He is a massive percentage of the Angels cap space because his talents warrant that expenditure. The bottom line is that the greatest ability is availability and his body isn’t able to hold up to HBP’s, slides, etc that are a part of the game. That elite prime period of his career is over and at 32 the nicks and dings will only slow his body down further.

Trout seems like a great guy but if it’s not one body part keeping him out it’s another. The Angels need him healthy to be relevant.

No one would disagree with that. I was just referring to his hbp. That could happen to anybody at anytime and has nothing to do with his previous injuries.

I didn't think it was a hpb, I thought it happened on a swing which can happen to anyone at anytime.

If he wants to play in the postseason he would be penning his trade request right now

dumpsterfire organization. on the plus side, you can fully ignore the Angels once Trout and Ohtani leave.

Anyone with a brain said he should've left 5 years ago. It will be interesting to see what happens. If he doesn't leave now, then you can absolutely say "Trout doesnt care about winning". I already think that, because why did he resign but now...?

Exactly!

Bryce Harper practically begged him to come sign with the Phillies when he did. I lost a lot respect for him when he decided to stay with the Angels and keep losing and not making the postseason. He still has got time to do something special with his career. That would include the postseason!

Of course he doesn’t care about winning. Why do you think he takes so much time to heal and not play and promote his gold course.

I can't even begin to wrap my head around the idea of losing respect for someone because he doesn't jump ship to go to another team because he thinks he'd win more games there. Isn't that exactly the thing basketball players do that causes people to #@#@#@#@ all over them?

I'd have to imagine that Philadelphia would be towards the top of his list of trade destinations.

Yeah I've seen a few people in this thread with that take. It's the first I've EVER heard this argument in sports. It is always "that guy is just a champ chaser". Usually people like loyalty over champ chasing. It's really weird how often blowout threads have people who just have to try to find things to dislike players for, even if they make no sense.

We all know that you can't win in this game without good teammates and a great organization. The Angels can't provide either one of those things. They haven't been able to do that in decades. He would not have been judged by the masses if he would have moved on after nearly a decade of service w/ the Angels. He made a wrong decision.

How are you possibly in a position to claim he made a wrong decision? The height of arrogance from the most arrogant person on these boards. Playing for a championship caliber organization has to be a tiny factor in life decisions a player makes. They are humans with lifes and families. Their decisions are far more nuanced than fans who only care about one thing would like them to be. To lose respect for someone for making decisions for other reasons than championships is absurd.

This is a baseball message board. Get use to it. He made the wrong BASEBALL decision, imo. Is that better for you? IF he cares about winning, he made the wrong decision. If it was great for his family, then awesome for him. He should be good to just stay in Anaheim for the rest of contract.

How dare you speculate! I’ve never been so offended in my life. You’re disgusting!
