You said you'd pay $2,000 in a heartbeat and the owner of the card thinks it's worth $5,000+, which you also said may be right. So, where are we at? There's no comps apparently, nobody is doing the deep dive research for you, and you don't seem to agree with the prices anyone is telling you.

If the thread would have come to the conclusion that it's a $5,000+ card, would you have been willing to spend the money?

You have 6 pages of responses by members here that the seller has to read. This doesn't seem like the best strategy if you truly want to land a grail card.

And I didn’t even think until after posting this googling the card. First few results are this thread….

2005 Topps Gold /2005 is my grail. Killer card. 2005 copies is pretty limited.

And comps on stuff this rare are completely meaningless, unless you're willing to wait for the next one to come up and hope they want to sell for less.

I think he doesn’t know what the market is either (understandable), so wanted to see before accepting my offer. Guess we are all about to find out. While I will be bummed if I miss out, I did land another big Bonds from him in a private deal so that makes me glad in the event that this doesn’t materialize. Thanks again all for your help.
