MLB ball parks make sense. Do you actually think every county in the US should purchase tarps for every ball field in their county parks? If so, I want to send the increase in my county taxes to you.

That sounds fair since most of our taxes were ending up in your bank account

I'm sure your high school has a turf batting cage that you could take Jr to tonight.

Along with all their other corrupt spending what’s a few more tarps thrown into the mix.

Dang right I would. I would have the rakes out there getting fields playable. It takes a lot of rain here for me not to get a field playable.

We have tarps for the home plate area on our fields. The mounds are portable, so we can dry them off very fast with blowers. The fields have a mix of clay, sand, quick dry, and turface that make them dry very fast, plus we have rakes and rollers that we can use to clear the water off. We've only had a handful of games cancelled in the last few years and most of them were due to storms right at game time.

SMIBworld has probably cancelled more this week than you have in all those years

Way too complicated for the SMIBs.

Headed to a 2 hour meeting, at least I hope it's over in 2 hours.

if SMIBtown had portable mounds, they would probably end up in the outfield on game day

if that did happen and they ended up out in the outfield......at least FTjr would then technically be playing the infield

I am not the one spending 150 dollars to register my son and have him not be able to play, seems like the county already has yours and the other parents tax dollars in their pockets.

I still can't get over $150 for registration, 5 kids can play here for that. Actually less than that if they are siblings since we offer sibling discounts.

With that registration fee they have maybe they would pay me a lot more than I make now.

No idea. The place is a drug infested nightmare. I haven't stepped foot in that place since the middle SD went there. Thankfully, the youngest SD went to the technical high school.

The county doesn't run the organization. Practice tonight was on a county field because games are scheduled (and probably cancelled) on the organization field. The baseball organization is a private entity that runs their own 4 fields and batting cage separate from county involvement.

You are correct though, IMO, $150 to play baseball for a cheesy shirt and ballcap does seem excessive. I can't remember what my wife said the umpires make, but it's like $10 a game only.

With the crime in this county, I don't think there would be any portable mounds left on the fields.

I actually would love to see what the money goes towards beyond the obvious shirt and hat for the kids, the few dollars they give the umpires, and the field upkeep. I'm sure they are making money off the concession stands too. They used to make the parents take turns running that, but now have 2 or 3 dedicated staff doing it. I'm not sure if they are paid. The coaches have to line their own fields.
