Maybe something like
-1989 Topps Traded Griffey Jr -1990 Topps Frank Thomas (NOF obviously) -1991 Topps Chipper Jones -1985 Topps McGwire Olympic Trying to stay away from RCs like 87 Topps Bonds that have XRCs. Good argument could be made for 1989 UD Johnson, but it’s just so overshadowed by the Griffey in that set, plus I feel like it doesn’t get the hobby love it deserves, I guess because the pitcher aspect. Edit: Updated to put the 85 Topps McGwire in, Im seeing enough raw copies on COMC and ebay below $10 to justify having it on.

I find it wild that you can get 80s/90s big name iconic HOFer RCs for under $10 and then some 16 year old dominican kid who will likely never play a game in the bigs sells for thousands.

Thomas, Griffey, and Jeter are probably your top 3 biggest names from that generation. Bonds/McGwire/Clemens/Ripken/Pedro/Randy are probably all battling for the 4th spot.

Really depends on the condition of the raw cards.
You could find beat up versions of 80 Henderson, 84 Mattingly, etc Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk |

It really grinds my gears that decent 1989 Upper Deck Griffey's are at least $40-50 raw.
They printed millions of these things and then more! Mine got lost to time and parents' housecleaning during a 25+ year collecting hiatus. Really frustrating. |

I saw Taylor pitch a few times in AA and invested a lot of money (probably like $80, but it was a lot to me at the time) in his cards. He threw as hard as I've ever seen anyone throw and his curveball seemed to dive at just the right time. Sigh. I keep his cards in a box with Todd Van Poppel and Scott Cooper cards. Scott Cooper! Imagine trading Jeff Bagwell because you have Scott Cooper!
