That’s why I’m not too bent about David Ortiz getting in the Hall, and I’m still on the fence about Sheffield getting the shaft.
Nelson Cruz was using and never tested positive. The fact that he never tested positive again afterwards is irrelevant.

Cruz didn’t hit double digit home runs in a season until his age 28/29 season.

Cruz career numbers are very similar to Carlos Delgado who fell off the HOF ballot after his first appearance. Delgado doesn’t have nearly the blemish of PEDs that Cruz does. Delgado’s overall numbers are for the most part better across the board. Some are significantly better than Cruz such as an OPS 73 points higher.
Delgado also finished 2nd and 4th in MVP voting while Cruz’s highest placing was 6th.

From a Twins fan perspective, he's another Jim Thome to me - spent a very limited time in Minnesota at the tail end of his career, but fans embraced them both immediately and love them both to this day.

Good guy Nelly.

We completely ignore it. Our only requirements are:

1. You need to be retired for 5 years
2. You can’t be in the Hall of Fame
3. You have to have been very good

How about the Baseball Card Hall of Fame? I’m not a Twins fan but this card is lit:
