Safe to call this “the norm” now?

Outside of Series 1 and Update why do we need a checklist for every single release ? If a player was called up this year and they aren't in Series 1 we know they are going to be in Bowman or Series 2 and every single release after that. And for those called up before June '24 there is a good chance they are going to be in Update and anything after that Series 1 '25. I doubt seriously people are going to decide to buy or not based on what insert sets look like. It's all about the main checklist and everything else is a bonus.

Topps has been dropping the checklist the day before or day of release unless they have a pre-sale. So expect it next Tuesday or Wednesday unless CC or Beckett gets it early.

What if, hear me out, I just want to know what players are in it? Does Shane Bieber have card? Does Josh Naylor? Does Bo Naylor? Not every person wants to know about every rookie. Archives is a special beast in its own right as well, is Roberto Clemente going to be the '56, '65 or '03 design?

Especially with archives, no guarantee on which rookies will have fan favorite autographs. For example Acuna, Tatis, and Bo Bichette do not.

Also, all the retired player autos that are only in archives. No way to know without a checklist

With Archives, a product that has a lot of veteran content, the checklist is indeed important, because until it's released you don't know which HOFers will be in it....there was one year (2018, I think), where Topps omitted a lot of the GOATs from the checklist and annoyed lots of collectors.

Main difference from the sell sheet seems to be that there are 60 names on the 1969 Foil/Image Variation checklists instead of 30 players....one active player and one retired player per team. So no Ohtani (Trout got chosen instead), no Hank Aaron (Chipper Jones got chosen instead), no Miggy (Riley Greene got chosen for the Tigers and Gary Sheffield for the Marlins), no Ruth or Gehrig (Jeter got chosen for the Yanks retired player spot), no Clemente (Maz got chosen instead), no Musial or Pujols (Ozzie Smith got chosen instead).

Also some big names missing from the team postcards (presumably for contractual reasons)....no Koufax or Mantle. And strangely, Schmidt does not appear to be on the Phillies team postcard, even though he is in the individual set.

Questions I still have are the size of the collector tins and team postcards, and what the 1965 "inverted" variations are going to look like?

And unfortunately, most of the 1969 autos are going to be stickers on the foil versions instead of on-card on the paper versions.

Ugh. Left off most of the big rookie names from the fan favorites autos. I’ll have to pick up a Walker though

Looking over the checklist, this looks like a fun rip. I'm down for a Hobby box and Collector's tin.

Jordan Groshans auto
Devon White auto
Jesse Orosco auto
Frank Thomas Blue Foil /25
A-Rod Inverted Red Hot Foil /50
Goldschmidt Red Hot Foil /50
Casas Green Foil /99

How did you get three hobby boxes four days before release?

Got lucky. I wasn’t even planning on buying any Archives but went to the Dallas Card Show yesterday and one of the sellers had it on the table. I thought it was a 11/03 release when I bought the boxes. Had I known release wasn’t until next week I would have bought even more.

LCS got them in yesterday. Haven't bought much this year so I'm busting 1 box for fun. Will post results in a bit.

Hits:
DL Hall rc auto /25 thought it was adley or Gunnar but nope.
Michael Toglia rc auto
Eloy Jimenez /25
Luis Robert /75
John smoltz /199
Babe Ruth /99

Fun break. The parallel cards look great. Autos also look great and on card too. 4 numbered cards seems decent. Overall B- grade. Would probably get more if it was in the $90-$100 range. Good luck to those breaking.

$175 at the LCS, $190 out the door

Good grief. I really need to kick those greedy bastards to the curb and just purchase my boxes online.

I think you mistakenly got my box! I literally hit DL hall, Toglia, ELOY, and Smoltz in seemingly everything I open! Only deviation from my standard norm is the LouBob.
