Then again, it was for a rookie year with SPA boxes that run $225+, while SPA boxes of 21-22 SPA were obtainable for $125 at BF. So I suppose if you do the math that suggests 21-22 The Cup could somehow go for $5-600 if the 21-22 guys fail to deliver. But in reality if the price ever dropped that low it'd be snatched up en masse by breakers and, in turn, the price would rise back to $800+ overnight.
All good points. Also when they added Inked Insignias for 2019 year it really cheapened the output IMO. Cheap looking logo patch auto as a 'hit'.

20-21 is now down to 999 on DA/SC. I'll keep an eye on that in the next year for a gamble if it gets to even 800. Decent class.

Big time- the checklist has only gotten more and more watered down since they added non-numbered cards (Brilliance in 2012-13?)

You missed the boat - it was $4999 per case on BF, which is $833 per box. No chance it goes lower given the rookie class. Best buy right now is 2016-17 Cup case at $10k. That has the potential to easily double if Toronto does anything.

Well I only ever bought one box of 20-21 the cup......I will never buy another box of any year "the cup" again because I will never get that lucky again. I'm quitting while I'm ahead. If you want to see the box break:

At this rate, I'm not sure I'll ever buy a tin of The Cup. I can get a suite or 7 games on the glass at Honda Center for the price of a few tins.

Edit: Allegedly this card exists, and I need it if true:
I opened a fair bit of both 21-22 and 22-23. I much prefer 21-22 - pretty solid class, the cards graded very well, and you have the Acetate YGs included. For 22-23 only sent in 1 card (in 2 cases) to be graded - lot of soft corners. I really hope UD gets their QC under control for 23-24! With the Acetate YGs gone and only FW Acetate in the product they are no longer case hits - I whiffed on mine.

In going through The Cup checklist two things jumped out. First, pretty solid vet/ retired content. Second, the updates have a lot of JRob and a fair bit of Tim Stutzle. Obviously their true RPAs were in 20-21, but still a nice lift for a rookie class that lacks a bit of elite rookie talent

I'm not too big into grading, so curious what you attribute the drop in QC between 21-22 & 22-23 to.

I've seen others speculate on other products that the switch to manufacturing in Italy impacted the QC...do you think it is that? Or a change to cheaper materials? Is that possible?

Honestly I have no idea. One of the good things about 21-22 is they went with a clean white design, which is less likely to show flows. 22-23 has a lot of gray on the card, including all the edges. But the vast majority of flaws in mine were soft corners which can definitely show up on white too. Interestingly enough 20-21 used white also and had terrible QC - but the problem there was surface pitting. 20-21 used a soft matt white finish. 21-22 kept white finish but moved to a glossier finish which seemed to help the surface. 22-23 kept the glossy but went back to colors.

I have graded multiple 2020-21 Connor McMichael Cup and edges are at best 9. I have received PSA 9 on a couple, expected, and 1 bgs 9.5/10, his auto streaks bad. The gold label had 9 edges.

I’m guessing most people are holding for 23-24 products with Bedard.

If that's the case, I hope they actually get game used jerseys given they are 3 seasons behind.

No excuse to use photo shoot BS.

Depending on prices maybe a few group breaks, teams are pretty high on eBay so hopefully that’s not a sign of what’s going to happen.

Some singles are hitting eBay. The rookie Limited Logos are NOT game worn this time around. Copies of the Caufield and Byfield LL’s are on eBay with player worn mem.

This is a bummer. All LL’s had been game worn since 2014-15. Not the case anymore I guess. Makes you wonder now if Bedard will have one when the time comes.

I know they're not real chasers by any stretch but absolutely love the Lamp Lighters cards. The red really pops.

Why are lamp lighters in the Cup AGAIN? That was a 2020 insert.

And chemical composition...unless someone mislabeled their listing.

"The Show" cards are cool, but no autos on the bigger names is a hard pass.

Did a break yesterday and landed a Mason Mctavish RC auto gold to 36, not sure how decent of a hit this is.
