take for instance the prizm color blasts.
roughly 1 in 10 cases in 21/22.

buyers only wanting to $100-150 for mid tier stars is ridiculous

these are by far undervalued

Colour blasts aren't anything special anymore, there's way too many of them over multiple years, products and multiple sports.

There's also too many that look similar too. Colour Wheel, Night Moves, Forcefield...

$100-150 for the likes of Sebastian Haller, Nick Pope and Jordan Ayew 'blasts is massively overpriced. Sorry.

I was talking about these:

1 Teemu Pukki - Norwich City
2 Declan Rice - West Ham United
3 Ruben Neves - Wolverhampton Wanderers
4 Allan Saint-Maximin - Newcastle United
5 Mason Mount - Chelsea FC
6 Jamie Vardy - Leicester City
7 James Ward-Prowse - Southampton
8 Sadio Mane - Liverpool FC
9 Ollie Watkins - Aston Villa
10 Cristiano Ronaldo - Manchester United
11 James Tarkowski - Burnley
12 Kai Havertz - Chelsea FC
13 Leandro Trossard - Brighton & Hove Albion14 Richarlison - Everton
15 Mohamed Salah - Liverpool FC
16 Bukayo Saka - Arsenal
17 Wilfried Zaha - Crystal Palace
18 Phil Foden - Manchester City
19 Patrick Bamford - Leeds United
20 Heung-Min Son - Tottenham Hotspur
21 Ismaila Sarr - Watford
22 Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - Arsenal
23 Ivan Toney - Brentford
24 Kevin De Bruyne - Manchester City
25 Bruno Fernandes - Manchester United

$100-$150 for Ivan Toney, Jamie Vardy, Watkins.
$90 for Ward-Prowse
$50 for Zaha

with perfect collation you've got to open 250 cases to the get 25 different players.

If people aren't willing to pay for a card that is 1 in 250 cases, then why bother buying a box for the current price of $100.
Or even if they dropped to $50 a box and $600 a case.

Any other sport, people pay for these rare inserts.

I wouldn't pay $150 for any Ivan Toney card, never mind a colourblast.

I generally don't buy sealed wax for 'case hits'. I don't buy sealed wax anymore at all really - it's 99% overpriced garbage.

Singles and vintage. Breakers and people asking thousands of dollars for RC's that have fallen down the leagues and they are oblivious to their careers can keep post 2020 wax to themselves to be fair.

you are saying that from a personal standpoint, not a collector's or buyer's.

why collect rare cards if you aren't willing to pay at least something reasonable compared to the scarcity of the card?

you may not like him, but he has a pretty big following and is about to be signed by Chelsea or Arsenal.

I'm sure lots of money will be set fire to when he moves to Arsenal or Chelsea as they desperately scrape the barrel.

Get pumping now!

Hardly a pump.
I feel for you if you can't get excited for a 1 in 250 case card who plays for one of top 6-7 teams in the worlds best league.

Name 5 different premier league cards you would currently pay $200 for.

I can get excited for a handful of those players within reason, but there's far more desirable cards over multiple years for me than yet another years colour blast. I'm not getting excited for players cards who I have no feelings for in real life.

To answer your other question, right now the only players I'd pay $200+ for in the Premier League are :

Topps Chrome Red / Orange / Black Parallels of any good player - literally just for the prestige and nobody else having them. Hey I'm honest.
Saka - 2020 Impeccable autos / 2019 Immaculate & Chronicles
Foden - Low numbered 2018/19 RR's / Impeccable on-card autos.
Haaland - Inception & Impeccable autos, would much prefer Dortmund cards.
Harry Kane - on card autos
De Bruyne - high end
Desirable/semi-desirable cards of legends like Henry/Bergkamp/Shearer/Lineker/Keegan etc etc from ultra-modern products. /5 Obsidian autos, gold select autos, museum gold frame etc to archive away and be forgotten about.

I never have been, and never will be in the demographic that spunks hundreds/thousands on players like Mitoma, Alvarez or Garnacho.. to use very recent examples. Not for me and ludicrous prices.

Why does it matter how rare the card is if it is a player nobody collects? Teemu Pukki is an average MLS player. There are 7 guys on that list who I would spend ANY money on (Mane, Ronaldo, Salah, Saka, Foden, Son, and DeBruyne). Ultimately, I guess your point is well-taken- it doesn’t make sense to spend $100/bid to chase color blasts of Ruben Neves or James Tarkowski.

Lol sellers are delusional...
"If you are not willing to pay 150$ for a no name card that is rare but nobody cares about, then why do you collect?"

Its good that cards are getting cheaper and that no one is buying wax at excessive prices. This is and should be a kids hobby, not a vehicle of expeculation for basement losers

I think it's just the fact that there are not as many set collectors in soccer as there are in other sports.

Look at 12-13 Prizm Basketball Gold Prizm prices. No names going for 100-200 on a regular basis. There's little of that in soccer.

Soccer collecting has a long longer history than 2016//17/18 … that’s just the modern cards (“junk”). I was attending Northern Ireland Football Programme Collector Fairs from 1985 and similar fairs were commonplace across British Isles. At time, these would have given big US baseball card fairs run for money in terms of attendances etc.
No way those fairs ever had 100,000 people attend like bigger US shows. Not even 1/10th of that!

Finances will play a part for sure, but I think we're missing the elephant in the room - most products are total garbage, thousands of people got burnt hard or ripped off by conmen, and malaise has set in.
This. OMG, I have to be honest here, but I read your comment before seeing your handle, and I can't believe it, but I totally agree with you. Maybe the sky is falling!? Not.

Forgot to say before, for those of you who feel burnt (or burnt out) by modern or ultra modern soccer, I have one word for you: vintage.

The Ronaldo 1/1 Superfractor I pulled (first set 2021-22) is running at Goldin right now. Looks sharp in a PSA 10. Good luck to anyone bidding!

2021-22 Topps Finest Flashbacks UEFA Champions League SuperFractor #7 Cristiano Ronaldo (#1/1) - PSA GEM MT 10

I wish I could get into vintage soccer- I just have zero context to connect to legends from the 60's and earlier.

Can I ask why not Goldin? It's my first time submitting. Didn't feel confident enough selling it on my own with such a "centerpiece" card.

Yes, you will do fine. I just personally don't like the platform and do most of my high end business with PWCC so could've bid it up more as I need it to complete my rainbow. Just wasn't meant to be for me Good luck again

I had a bad experience with golden on some SGC 10's a while back and my cards actually would have sold higher on ebay. even after I paid the fees. Because of the bad experience I doubt that i will ever use them again.
