Default Show Vocabulary Crash Cours for my Assistant

I've got a buddy who's cosigned a large number of his son's TCG cards through me for shows. The so wants nothing to do with him as he's got f u money in his adult job.

Buddy's tagging along next show because he feels bad about me doing all the work and I'm super excited for him to see the wonderful world of the trading card show world.

I also need to prepare him for bad actors. As the TCG are mostly his, I'm letting him know what it cost to grade the graded ones so he'll know from there how much wiggle room is in it for him. I've told him about the term "comps" and if someone wanders off to "comp" a card it means they're going check recent ebay sales and aren't shoplifting. What's some other key crash course terms I need to compile for him in case I go get a hot dog or use the facilities and have to leave him unattended? He's super nice and only sees the good in people so I'm dealing with the personification of "wears a sign and then gets targeted by scammer" level of wholesome with this guy.

I'm a little curious about this too because I don't have the patience for haggling (as a buyer or a seller) and am reluctant to set up at shows. When I sell on Blowout I spend time pricing and try to put my best price out there and make it easy for people (eBay is sometimes another story).

He just needs to remember that it's his card and his price and there's nothing wrong with someone leaving upset or disappointed. It's business, and it's none of their business why he's asking what he's asking. Side note, he probably also needs to be familiar with the forms of payment you are accepting, etc.

May want to educate him on where "comps" can come from and the good and bad sources.

Indeed. There's a collector in our region, shows up at sports and non sports events. I have an item #'7 in sports, I've owned 3/7 and the last comp of $400 was my sale.

This collector dead a55 offered me $100 at one of the larger shows. I have a feeling that my people pleasing friend would take that deal.
