This card is even more beautiful in hand, than the photos seen online, etc. Thank you to whomever made this available via Hoodys on eBay a few weeks back.

Thank you to everyone for their continued knowledge and insight as I navigate what and how to collect The Kid.

This is the sort of card I would get if I had won the lottery..

Big thanks to those helping to verify the authenticity of this Desert Shield for me. It looked good to me and with BGS behind it, I felt good but appreciate the extra set of eyes. Very happy to have a Gem Mint copy of The Kid in this iconic set.

This might be a real tough question to answer but I've really liked what I see in the celebration of the kid set. If I look at the auto checklist is it safe to assume that the photos in the auto version will correlate with the non auto? For example the photo used in "KID-1" would be the same as "KIDA-KG1"? Or do you think they'll use completely different photos?

So I just screened a box of top loaders I had set up to post on WhatNot and eBay and fell upon a card that was actually called a case hit back in 1997 being 1:721 packs. It was a 30 card set. Yes, I learned this all this morning. Apparently not many posted anywhere of any player and not many graded by PSA. Pop shows 4 total with Griffey and only 1 each of another handful of players. Let's say I'm glad I screened the box for grading:

*Stain on back was on the top loader, not the card! Whew!

I don’t think we’ll know for certain until the redeemed copies start popping up but the inserts do lineup to the autos on the CL.

These were essentially the original Home Run Challenge cards, except the normal cards had a specific date range correlating to a series that year and if he homered in that series, you won the 30 card set. In this case, this is just the automatic winner that would entitle you to the set (with the auto winner probably being more valuable than the actual set at this point)

They also had the same thing for football where they would have the date of the game and if that player scored, you win.

I believe I still have a couple of the sealed sets at my parents home from at least the football version, probably the baseball version too.

I’m pretty sure I have one of these too. I believe mine also has instant winner on it too. I’ll have to double check this weekend and see if I can find it. For some reason I remember reading there were two versions of this? I assumed mine was the cheaper version and filed it with the other 5k Griffey cards I have. Maybe I’m wrong?

Another thread got me going through some photos of my collection I had stored on another computer, and I ran across this photo. It was a redemption from an upper deck product in 2002 or 2003. Sadly, I sold it when I stopped collecting autographed memorabilia. But it's such an amazing photo I thought I'd share it here.

EDIT: Here is the set I pulled it from: http://baseballcardpedia.com/index.p..._UD_Authentics I pulled this as well as a Hank Aaron signed 16x20.

His Cincy stuff hasn’t jumped as much as his Seattle. Glad I was able to pick this beauty!

I need some help with this one. Do I have something here?

About 15 years ago I bought this at a card show for $5. I bought it strictly because it was a candy bar with Griffey on it. I paid no attention to the autograph and figured it was fake due to the cheap price of the candy bar. I tossed it in a team bag and it’s been there ever since.

Fast-forward to today, I was reading about how these candy bars came out in 1989, his rookie year. After digging up the candy bar, I looked at the back and sure enough the 1989 date can be seen. After doing more research, I discovered that Ken Griffey Junior signed some of these candy bars during his rookie year. I have no clue how many he signed. Is this one of them? I’m not familiar with early forms of Jr’s Signature, but was wondering what you guys thought? Does anyone have any examples of an early Griffey Auto?

Additionally, Should I send this to PSA? Would they encapsulate it if authentic? How do I deal with the 35 year old chocolate (remove the sleeve etc). Any info is appreciated!

Looking at Terapeak, my mostly uneducated guess is not a real Griffey auto. There is definitely some variation to his auto on those candy bars but none with a J that hooks like that. Also, there was a candy bar slabbed by PSA in those examples on Terapeak.

I'm not saying it's real, but there are definitely early sigs where the J doesn't loop all the way back up, or at all.
