I believe the website is technically more accurate, primarily because the indicator is more specific. Assuming both interfaces read data from the same database, if we view the order tracker as a simplified representation of a more intricate process, the website's order tracker allows us to discern whether the Assembly phase is in progress (blue clock) or complete (green check), whereas the app only indicates it's in the Assembly phase regardless. I'm uncertain about the breakdown of tasks behind the scenes (perhaps the image scans technically occur after Assembly but before 'Grades Ready'), but 'Grades Ready' itself seems to mark a milestone...I've never seen 'Grades Ready' in progress.

Ultimately, it appears that most (all?) of the Modern Sports New Year Special 2023 service orders are literally FLYING relative to the estimated 50-business-day turnaround. No need to be frustrated because some orders are moving faster than others when they're all moving faster than we signed up for.

I can also confirm getting your cards back from New Jersey is not good for your grades.

Who knows what goes on with PSA - the workflow makes no sense (why QA after already assembled?), why no FIFO - just a total random order processing, inconsistent grading - it's the Thunderdome with them.

Can anyone clarify for me, if I send in a normal Value Bulk order, can I include both sports and TCG cards in the same order? I have a couple of Pokemon cards that I'd like to throw in to get to the 20-card limit but am not sure whether they can be mixed in.

Yep. You'll just pay the $18.99/card versus the $14.99 if it was all Pokémon bulk.

I have to admit that a lot of the prizm/optic/bowman chrome new releases that I'm sending in today would have been in my reject pile in 2017/2018 when the production quality was better, but my recent orders have been in the 75%-80% gem range.

It would be a fun experiment to crack out 8's and 9's graded back then and see how they'd grade today. I think they'd look better by comparison.

Seems like some of the orders are starting to slow down now. My modern sports special that I sent in on Feb 2nd, has been in research and ID for 8 days now. Last order I believe was in research and ID for two days. I am guessing they got flooded at the end of January.

Dual Service orders (card + auto grade/authentication) definitely take quite a bit longer than the typical card grade-only service.

Took a second look at my order from NJ and was absolutely baffled how some of these got 8s and 9s. Some of these were Bowman Chrome and Bowman Mega that are generally very easy to gem. No surface issues,corners look good etc. I sent in like 15 Jordan Love Prizm cards and only 3 came back gemmed.This is after I looked them over for any surface issues. Definitely newbies grading cards at the NJ office

I have a feeling that the Santa Ana office dumped a large volume of orders on the NJ office when the surge hit at the end of the month. That is why we are now seeing a bunch of orders sit in research and ID for so long. They are making their way across country.

I hope that's the explanation. My large order at the beginning of January took 3 weeks total. I'm now sitting on 3 weeks in R&ID for my end of month order in the same special without images even uploaded.

So that’s what’s going on, same experience here. First order that arrived early January zoomed through in 3 weeks. But my latest that arrived end of January has been in Research for 3 weeks. I guess they are going to Jersey?
