The only QB worth even $40MM let alone $50MM right now is Mahomes.

It will lower his cap hit in 2024. But yeah, every team with a good QB hits this issue eventually.

It's not like they were consistently getting blown out in their losses. A 7-point road loss to the Chiefs and a 7-point home loss to Buffalo (in a game without Waddle).

Dolphins had the #2 offense and the #22 defense. Stay healthy on that side of the ball and shore up the linebacking corps and they can be right back in contention for a top seed in the playoffs.

For comparison, other top QBs and their defense's scoring rank in '23:
Kansas City - #2
San Francisco - #3
Buffalo - #4
Baltimore - #1
Dallas - #5
Tua won't be signing an incentive-laden deal. He's not a running back or 33 year old guy that was a star. He's a quarterback. The position is just different. He'll get at least 46 million. He's a good player, but has limitations. I think the Dolphins can win a couple playoff games with him over the next four years.

Worry on Tua is that he's one concussion away from retiring. Miami has to worry about paying him big money then he gets a concussion and they are on the hook for 10s of millions of dollars with the injury guarantee.

Another traumatic brain injury, concussion suffered by Tua tonight.

You kind of have to wonder what his future is at this point in his career.

Already seeing lots of talk online that he should cash in his chips and hang up his cleats.

Retire and never look back Tua. It’s not worth it.

Hello Nostradamus....

Do you have the picks for Powerball for the next draw....

I have seen these concussion issues before and he will become even more brittle if he soldiers on as from what I have read a concussion is similar to shattering a pane of glass and then taping the window together, so the next concussion is so much easier to get than the previous one.

He has had 3 brutal ones now and the 4th one is inevitably going to be another spectacular one he should tape his spikes on his locker similar to a retired construction worker and walk away from the game.

Yeah he keeps going into the fencing position. I don't think he can keep playing, he has all the talent to play, but his body just isn't built for football. You can say he should just slide, but he could get one of these any time he goes to the ground. If he does come back, maybe force him to wear the new helmet, they should probably force everyone to wear it whether they want to or not.

I'm probably the biggest Tua truther in here, but I hope he hangs them up. I am afraid he won't because of the pride of his family and heritage, they don't want to seem weak. But he's going to die on the field or become permanently mentally disabled if he keeps playing.

I didn't watch the game last night but just saw the replay. The way he's reacting to that hit is frightening and reminds me of the hits he took earlier in his career. Here we have a bunch of fans laughing at the guardian caps and then you see things like this. It wouldn't shock me if by his 50th birthday his brain is being donated to some research facility on CTE. I've never seen a modern-era player take more ugly hits to the head than Tua.

Unfortunately, the guardian caps can only do so much. With the amount of hits to the head Tua has taken in his career, I think it's time for him to retire.

I know it's bigger than the game, but man how many jobs are tied to Tua this season and how much money did they just shell out this offseason to now be likely staring down the barrel of a top 5/10 draft pick?

Tua - 4 / $212.4 million w/ $167 mil guaranteed
Hill - 3 / $90 million w/ $65 mil guaranteed
Waddle - 4 / $84.75 million w/ $76 mil guaranteed
McDaniel signed an extension.

If he does hang them up, the Dolphins are gonna have to be ridiculously aggressive to go after a top QB or the team could be crippled for the immediate future.

That wasn't even an ugly hit. It's like his brain is so damaged that that any contact to his head is going to cause this. It reminds me of the end of Wes Welker's career when it seemed like any hit he took caused a concussion. Once your brain is at that point football isn't in the cards anymore

Agreed, and I'm not sure a guardian cap would have saved him on that hit, either.

Factually true. When you suffer concussions, you become more prone to them.

Yeah the way his head moved, I don't think the guardian cap is going to help. There were two instances last night that could have caused concussions, the initial hit into hamlin and then when he went to the ground he hit his head again. The guardian caps help, but only so much. Tua just seems like a person who is really susceptible to head injuries for whatever reason.

Tannehill has a better chance of finishing the year as the Dolphins starter than Skylar. Tua might be done sooner or later either way.
