Does anyone have a video link to a 2018 topps chrome gold Ohtani auto? Never seen one on video before and I've noticed not all the 2018 topps chrome autos shine equally.

No video but BGS graded a lot of turds a 9.5 in really cloudy cases so just be careful. Not sure how they were so lenient with these. Many have rear corner damage and deep surface scratches. I found orange to be a better representation of the grade.

Just the man I was looking for. I assume you own a gold lol. I noticed the orange really shines across the whole card where some of the others really only seem to shine by the auto and at the top. Is the gold like the orange or more like the others?

The gold refractor effect was consistent across all true golds I encountered (and graded). Are you talking about the gold wave? That one indeed has a differing refractor shine. Fwiw I have seen at least 8 copies of true gold.

So when I see this orange it has a refractor shine across almost the entire card.

When look at some of the other variants such as blue or purple, I don't see that shine across the entire card. So I was curious what gold looks like.

I see. I thought you were saying that some true golds shine differently than other true golds. I can understand how you may think that's the case but I wouldn't look at BGS cases for reference. Their QC was awful in 2018-2020 and the baggies were cloudy on top of thick plastic slabs.

Here's a BGS versus PSA. They actually both have very refractor-like qualities even though the PSA looks way better - it's really just the case. I'll agree that the orange is much more vibrant, but the gold is still better than the blue.

I ended up selling both of these and settling with PSA 10s of orange and orange sapphire. So no video, but hope it helps. I do recommend orange

Here's orange. I dumped the BGS because of the case and some questions about the grade. Auto was also not the best.

Last one I was able to find. This is a better comparison. You made me take a walk down memory lane and review all the awesome cards I sold. Kept most but it still hurts :'(

These pictures were amazing, I appreciate it. Yeah something about the orange just shines better than the others. Also don't feel bad about selling them. I'm thinking of consolidating down even more to a handful .. just not sure what ones!

The sales of those cards bankrolled many other purchases that were still underappreciated at the time in 2021 (ROAs, BCAs, etc). It was the right call, but it's tough to continue playing in the high-end game without willingness to make lateral moves (or unlimited budget). Had 5-6 slab case XLs filled with RC slabs at peak and I'm down to under one now, not including fun/pc stuff. Much more stable values and peace of mind.

Cannot remember a time where there have been more fake sho autos on the market. It's insane and even more insane that people are falling for it.

I can already see the dejection a couple decades from now when the next generation finds out their late dad's sho auto was fake.

The listing has already been taken down, so I imagine it was fake.

I still see it on ebay...was it taken down in the past? I just assume all Ohtani IP autos are fake unless they have some type of authentication from PSA, Beckett, or JSA.

For some reason the link is not working. Not sure what I am doing wrong?

Fake unless he signed it while walking. Missing all the details that would even begin to make it believable.

You're doing nothing wrong, the forum software doesn't like ebay links. When you click it (assuming you're on a browser and not a phone app, anyway), you can delete everything from the URL after "https://www.ebay.com/itm/235470059493" and then it will work.

Or, the easier solution, when you remember to do it (haha) when posting an ebay link here on the forum, you have to take the "https://www." out of the link. E.g. ebay.com/itm/235470059493. Then the link works fine.

If it were real, the seller would have had it authenticated. Hard to believe they were hard enough up for cash that they wouldn't.
