Pretty sure whatever your using to make this post is tracking you. Only way to not get tracked is to not use the internet

I know what BO is tracking. I let them collect things like my IP address, the device I'm using, other sites I'm on while using BO. I don't have cookies saved to my devices.

What sites don't do take of all my phone info. That can only happen if I have an app installed.

Default BO forum slowly dying?

I don’t hear anyone singing the graces of logofractor products anywhere here anymore.

Many, many threads for flippers pretending to be collectors.

Hobby how you will, but a lot fewer sealed product flip conquest threads these days is a good thing in my book.

A dead message board means a lot more bang for the buck for remaining hobbyists.

My point was more that the confluence of Bat Down and Sapphire made for a super card that created a lot of buzz. Meanwhile, no matter what Topps does now (e.g. Logofractor, Guilded), it’s nearly impossible to replicate what was a more organic phenomenon that we saw in the Sapphire bat down. Something similar could be said of the flagship SSP photo variations, which were newer and sexier when Soto and Acuna burst onto the scene.

When Logofractor came out in ‘22, it created a buzz because it was a little different and interesting, but it didn’t rise to the level of what Sapphire did in ‘18 (when it switched to pack distribution), nor was their a card quite on the level of what served as a premium parallel of the Acuna bat down. The J-Rod was (and still is) a strong card, but it’s just not on that level.

In other words, a J-Rod Logofractor was probably the best Topps could’ve done to approach a Sapphire/bat down frenzy, and yet it really didn’t come close because it’s nearly impossible to replicate the Sapphire bat down phenomenon.

BO is still a great place with so much knowledge. People come and people go, especially the people who got burned by the pandemic. I will always have an appreciation for the BO forums. I am just happy that I can use a computer again, even if it frustrates me.

Jim.
Jim, that sucks. Sorry to hear it but glad you are back a bit. Prayers your way. Losing your eyesight is awful. My mother-in-law is going through that now.

If we really want to gauge the board involvement, it needs to be a product that is truly at a collectors budget —like 2024 topps heritage. Compare that to previous years interest in heritage and you should be able to tell if the board is more/less dead than pre-Covid. Especially with the popularity of the 75 design
Posting in the 2024 Topps Heritage thread is actually up compared to prior releases at the same point.

How colorful.

Also, use https://postimages.org to host pictures. Don't even need an email address.

If you think not saving cookies to your devices is saving you, incorrect. If you think cookies are the way "they" track you, nah. If you think InPrivate or Incognito browsing is safe, lol. Maybe you won't use an Apple or Google phone, but browse safely from your Microsoft computer, nope. Use Linux instead, cool! Then it's also your ISP, both home and on your mobile phone, who knows what you're up to. Installed a VPN? Neato! Hope the VPN server doesn't live in a country that's part of the Five Eyes Alliance or otherwise has agreements with the US for data sharing. Or doesn't have their own nefarious data collection policies (hint, they all do)

Cookies are the least of your privacy problems. Not installing apps means jack all to who has your data.

Yeah I assumed it would be. I thought traffic was pretty strong for the 24 flagship release as well.

I think people just assume the board is dying because there are 7000 posts less of all the needless pumping/complaining/investing/market posts

This is just how it was prior to all of that.

I don't get targeted ads, which tells me that incognito in fact does work.

Yes, I know there are a multitude of ways to track people digitally. For example, even with a VPN, your internet service provider can still track you -- the FCC allowed this to happen a few years ago.

I'm refusing to be an active participant to tech spying. If it happens, it's not because I accepted it.

This is akin to being proud about fixing a drip from a leaky faucet when one is standing in 3 feet of fetid water from a broken water main.

Not getting targeted ads because a person uses incognito doesn't mean their data wasn't collected, it just means it was sold to a different audience. That should be more concerning.

We're up to 8 pages to explain "the hobby is shrinking as whole, so engagement on Blowout is down". I'd say Blowout is doing just fine.

The reason I don't put extra apps on my phone is because they are too needy. Simply, they annoy me. Asking for permission, wanted to be paid attention to (updated). Screw them.

All in... maybe $180 for two football and a baseball league.
I actually went the other direction. I figured cards could replace the making lists that I lost when I retired from fantasy. As a bonus it looks like it will also replace the income I lost when online poker was banished.

Oh you sweet summer child. This is why old people are always getting scammed. They look out for threats they are aware of but have no clue the bigger threats they have no idea exist.

Many members feel intimidated to give their opinions and then have other members mock or critique what they say. I’m more into utilizing facts and data where I can backup a statement.

Could it be that there is a group that watches certain people who are not a part of their group and then can attempted at being silenced for speaking against the elite ? It comes down to who one follows. The greatest strength for those in control is their greatest weakness, and that is what puts the fear of the creator above !

I think so as well. Once the games start counting, and stats start accumulating, activity will pick up.
