Arrow A Mailday/Story worth it's own thread...

Today was a big day in my collecting journey. This may be wordy, but it's all context worth sharing.

Heritage has always been my favorite product. It's the boxes I opened most growing up, the sets I collected, etc. My dad grew up as a huge fan of Johnny Bench, and so we collected Johnny Bench (among other players) together. When Bench started being added as autos/game used in 2014, my ultimate goal was to fully collect as many of his heritage cards as possible.

I was not far out of college and didn't have a ton of extra money for a PC that has now grown into the range it has. So I would often buy a card, and then ultimately resell it later. Within the last two years, due to income increase and being settled in our "forever home", I've been a little more intentional at putting money towards the cards I want with the intent of keeping them no matter what.

I've had the pleasure of buying a LOT of nice Bench Heritage cards (Check out this thread if you want to see some... not completely updated):
https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?t=1584083

As you can see, I grade most of my PC where it makes sense. Having rarer PSA 10's is really nice, but I just like the uniformity of graded PSA slabs as well.

There's one card, however, I've just not seen pop up in the years of searching. It's always been the top of my Bench Heritage List. I knew based on the popularity of Bench and this other player plus the rarity of the card, I'd likely lost my window finding one that's not stored in PC's for the foreseeable future.

When I happened to see this card listed last week, I could not think of anything else until I had the purchase secured. Not only is it a PSA 10 Pop 2 (Which you can see fits my collection), it's jersey #5 which I try very hard to collect and pay a premium for. Literally the most perfect example of the card I could dream of owning, and now I have it. So without further delay, here's my white whale.

Oh yeah, and this cousin isn't so bad either....

They both came on the same day, from the same seller. They are in a good home now, and looking forward to keeping them in my collection.

Hope you enjoyed!

That’s outstanding and with the connection to your pops too. Amazing acquisitions!
