Default Remaining 2023 products?

I see Optic is late June but no announcements for Contenders, NT and some of the top brands left.

Has anyone heard any updated of these were scrapped because of licensing issues, inability to get the top guys, or something else?

Feel at the very least we puked have at least seen pre sales by now.

It's a great question, Chris - would love anyone's input. I don't recall seeing Blowout Buzz threads for NT, etc.

I'm amazed at how dysfunctional the football side of things is right now.

Cardboard connection - one my one stop for intel is seemingly dead.

What will the value be if 2023 NT doesn't drop until summer (or later)? Especially if Stroud continues to be a "no auto" card. Haven't we all pivoted to 2024 draft picks now?

Has there been an announcement for 2024 Score? If that doesn't hit until super late it will be a trash product.

Not a great time to collect football.

If Tanner McKee breaks out before I get the chance to scoop up some Contenders and National Treasures dirt cheap, I'm going to lose it.

I'm honestly not sure how you justify a release of auto heavy sets without any of the top guys. You can only get away with shoving vet autos in so many products. I mean contenders is really only good for the 5 autos none of the other bass crap.

I'm sure they will figure out a way to get these out with high prices but maybe they shouldn't. Highway robbery.

They already have solicits out for Clearly Donruss, Optic, and One all scheduled for next 7 weeks. Sell sheets on Contenders and Select should be hitting any day now as Select retail has already solicited and been fully allocated out for an end of June release (usually they run a few weeks late so figure early July).

Remaining SKUs yet to solicit would be Contenders Optic, Chronicles, NT, Encased, and Flawless.

I would assume they are all still coming out. Panini is required by contract to put out a pretty high number of sets, so I don't think they can even choose to scrap them really. From reading about the lawsuits and a little between the lines, The issue they are having the issue they are having is that Fanatics bought out the facilities that do the physical printing as a part of their vertical integration strategy and aren't exactly cooperative. I don't think it is even possible for Panini to speed up the runs at this point. They are at Fanatics mercy, though I would assume Fanatics is forced to still print the cards eventually by pre-existing contracts.

Panini does a lot of terrible on their own, but their issues with Fanatics are the explanation for some of their worst recent habits. For another example, they alleged in their legal filing that Fanatics had blocked them out of acquiring any game used material to use in their cards, which would explain all the non-associated mems these days.

EDIT: Forgot to add that of the missing sets listed, Contender's is 100% happening still. Dick's has blasters and had megas for pre-sale on their website.

As everyone else alluded to, everything is seemingly coming out but way behind schedule. I will be quite curious to see the impact it has on 2024 product, because 2023 stuff looks likely to be stretching into the season unless the go crazy on releases over the summer.

I was just getting used to football releases being somewhat on schedule following the pandemic supply chain issues.

But now we got "Fanatics screwing with Panini's printers" issues, correct?

I just hope we're not getting 2023 Select in like October 2024.

It’s not about justifying.

It’s about fulfilling whatever is left of their exclusive license.

Eeeeeeehhh!

Wrong!

It’s about CJ, Tiny Man and Levis autos being included.

So said The New Mouth of the South.

Tiny Man?

I believe that's the Shrink Panther you're talking about.

I am just going to use this thread to laugh at Donruss Clearly FOTL "selling out" at $350 yesterday. Sure guys. You have had Rookies & Stars, Limited, and Illusions all sitting there on your site for a month or more for less than that. Zenith FOTL boxes go for $300 now and the hobby boxes still are below $300. But Clearly? Oh yeah, people really want that at $350!

Does Fanatics start in 2025? What if Panini is so far behind in 2024 because Fanatics is slowing down the printing that Panini releases half of their 2024 stuff into the 2025 season? Not a good time to be a football collector, but that would make me laugh a little.

Not until 2026. But yeah that's clearly what Fanatics is pulling here. Panini hasn't released a hobby product in weeks and they're still bumping back the very few that have publicized release dates.

Panini has been using a lot of different printers lately, a lot less products coming from GC Packaging in the last 6-8 weeks, I think this is only causing more and more delays as GC was really the main company that could handle the volume.

That and the QC has been an issue. Heard from my LCS that one product got bumped back so far because the entire product was run through the presses by one of these other companies and it went horribly enough where they needed to completely restart.

yeah, 23/24 Prizm BK was horrible. Lots of missing autos and other boxes with double, cards all facing the wrong way and bricked together. It was a mess. I haven't seen anything come from that printer (Millennium Print Group) since.

Yeah unsure of which printer and which product exactly (was hinted at Contenders FB), but apparently they had the presses run and everything was crooked, edges jacked, etc. and they actually did the reasonable thing and were seeking to reprint.

I don’t do baseball and I forget from before - does Topps post their checklists early? Day of release? Late?

It’s incredible to me that anyone buys football cards anymore.
