Anybody see Johnston as Conn Smythe material?

That shorty after swiping Makar's mittens like that is serious stuff for young Wyatt. Happy 21 to him today lol

Nothing is for certain yet, but WJ might be ascending and become the Stars anchor 2-way superstar if he keeps this up. Great team depth as noted but Wyatt is bouncing those 22/23 products back into good graces.

Enjoying the highlights.

Avs lost a little steam after the really fun first two games of that series. The player assistance situation probably didn’t help the locker room vibes for the Avs.

Dallas just looks really good. It probably makes Wyatt look a little better than he’s been… but he’s been awesome. So I think I’d go with “he’s really good and we are seeing that”.

He’s also had a mix of cheapies, gritty goals (like the shortie), and goals like the PP last night where it really seemed like he was the focus - trying to get him the puck with the space.

He has these games and I think “there’s his helium… he’s the benefactor of the good team tonight… tomorrow it will be J Rob…” and then it’s just Wyatt again.

Dallas' roster looks like it was hand-built for playoff runs. Checks every box you'd want in a team:
  • 3 lines of scoring depth
  • True #1 defenseman with 2nd and 3rd pairs you can trust situationally
  • Solid, borderline elite goalie
  • Veterans who have won it before
  • Young talent on cheap contracts with a taste of experience already
  • Can play with skill or grit

I'm not saying lock them in, but they're my Cup favorite for the next couple of years barring something drastic changing.

This is nitpicky but there's no 3rd pairing - Nils Lundkvist has averaged under 5 mins of TOI so far in the playoffs.

They have 5 solid shutdown D though. Ryan Suter is playing ~18 mins a night which is a sweet spot for him at his age. I just hope that Hakanpaa gets healthy soon, not sure how deep you can get in playoffs with 5 D before it starts to take a physical toll.

It is being talked about in certain circles for sure, and he certainly is a contender if he keeps this up.

I wonder if he was hoping to get the puck back or did he unselfishly pass it like the vid says to ensure the goal?
Great, humble, kid, imo, with a very bright future.

Also says a lot that he’s living at Pavelski’s house. “Team” is a pretty important thing in all sports but it feels amplified in hockey. Having your old guys on the team be that kind of mentor and having your young guys making that choice for a 2nd year says a heckuva lot about both players.

Has to be a great locker room. I only hope the Hawks can get back there again.

Absolutely.
If that were only the case/luck of many rookies coming into the league, we'd be seeing a lot more great players like Wyatt. What Pavelski has taught him about the game, both on and off the ice, is immeasurable.

Dallas is very good. With some bounces they'd have won one in recent years.

And had Oettinger not stunk for half the season they'd have won the President's Trophy by 10 points.

Laid money on a Dallas-Florida final going in and so far, so good.

Even though I can't stand the Rangers being a Flyers fan, Rangers vs Florida has the potential to be a great series. Florida seems good at taking some really poor penalties and the Rangers power play is elite.

I hope Dallas can get it done tonight and end the series. Hintz is now out though with an UBI, so that, imo, is huge loss. Hintz is one of those players that is hugely underrated, imo.

the Oil played their best game of the post season and were deserving of the win.
I was jacked when Van tied the game late in the 3rd but going up 3-1 in the series just wasn't to be. The winner by Bouchard was painful- Silovs should have had it but he just didn't pick the shot up in time. Ouch.
This series can go either way.
Really hope that EP40 can get his s**t together and be a factor.

loss of Hintz was evident last night. Take away any teams 1LC and it's tough.

Still think Dallas will be ok but finishing off Colorado will be hard. Especially in Denver

Other than racking up a bunch of PP assists McDavid has done pretty much nothing this postseason. Even strength he has been incredibly blah. Only 2 goals these playoffs.

'Nucks take 3-2 series lead over the Oil while playing probably their best game this post season.

McDavid not at his best the past few games that's for sure

Canucks dominated this one after the 1st

I know this is a Canadian-team centric board but the Rangers last night was incredible. Down 3-1 heading into third against a team facing elimination playing for everything with a home crowd behind them mind you, and Chris Superman Kreider drops a hatty in one period including the winner and ends up sending CAR home 5-3. I thought game 7 was inevitable, NY is going to be a problem for FLA.
