Found this oddball penny.

I call this my 1992 Meteorshower Penny.

Here is another weird coin I found a few years ago and just this week refound:

I know it is a dime but I looks like the obverse is kinda missing, I call this my ‘blurred face dime’. Let me know what you think.

Collecting currency, especially rare and old banknotes, can be a rewarding hobby but there are risks if you don't take the right approach. When acquiring uncirculated or high grade notes, it's important to have them professionally graded and encapsulated by respected third party grading services like PMG or PCGS. This not only authenticates the notes but assigns a numeric grade that is standardized across the industry. This process increases the value, marketability and return on investment of the notes substantially compared to ungraded currency.

Over my 20+ years collecting banknotes, I've found PMG and PCGS graded notes consistently appreciate in value better than equivalent raw notes. The grading services also provide a guarantee of authenticity and grade accuracy. Additionally, currency collecting has the benefit of standardized catalog reference numbers like the Friedberg numbers for US currency issues and Pick numbers for world banknotes. This makes identifying and valuing notes much easier than other collectibles like trading cards that lack a standard indexing system. In summary, having currency professionally graded and leveraging reference catalogs can maximize your returns and make currency a less risky asset class to collect.

Same for cards, coins, comics...

I started looking for other items to collect other than baseball cards. So, I started collecting baseball currency…. It’s the best of both Worlds

Wish I had a way to post pics here!

Started picking up some currency a couple years ago. Started out with a 1934 $500 note then got a $1k note had it graded at PMG and came back EF 40 EPQ.
I pick up decent looking horse blankets (1923 $1 silver certificates) from time to time. I like to give them out to friends/relatives who have never seen large size notes.
Few months back I picked up a 1922 $10 gold certificate in nice shape. I still need to have that graded.
Last weekend I walked into my regular shop and stopped in my tracks at the paper money case. There was a porthole note graded by PMG. AU58.

For those of you not familiar with the porthole, it is a 1923 $5 silver certificate. You just don't see those very often. I texed the wife and she wasn't too excited about me even thinking about it. I walked out and headed home. I have about an hour drive home. Couldn't stop thinking about it and I knew I would regret it if I passed on it. So I called the shop while I was driving and asked them to put it back for me. I head in Saturday to pick it up and I couldn't be more excited!! Thankfully the wife didn't threaten to divorce me when I came home and told her I committed to it.

Currency is just so interesting and beautiful!
