Question How to value a superfractor?

Would you say that a superfractor is generally 3-4x the red/5 value?

Just trying to get an idea or what to price it at.

Or is it just a list real high and wait and see type deal?

Depends on the player. Depends on the set.

There are plenty of superfractors that sell for less than $100. Less than $50 even.

I mean without knowing the player or set it is pretty much impossible to help

This would be a good way to value how much the second most interested buyer is willing to pay.

I’m amazed that collectors still don’t understand this.

BIN/Take offers
Bidder 1 willing to go 500
Bidder 2 willing to go 200
Card sells for 500 or maybe 450

Auction
Bidder 1 willing to go 500
Second highest bidder only willing to go 200
Card sells for 210

Some people need to sell more quickly than others.

Not many cards out there have one guy willing to pay 2.5x more than anybody else. More likely is one guy willing to go 500, next guy willing to go 450, card sells 460. Same guy willing to go 500 offers 300 and hopes you'll take it.

Depends…the cards mostly likely to see widest gaps between 1st and 2nd most payers would be rarities just like this, superfractors (another example…1/1 sketches…or anything very rare like a 97 Finest GER). It’s possible one person wants the the 1/1 so much they will pay irrational amounts to get it.

Case in point, me. As I collect oddities like error cards (unique or nearly unique), and in that market I find myself way overpaying for BINs because I really want it, but am well aware I am paying up to 10x market on some of them. In other words, if the seller auctioned it, I would get it at a small fraction of what I’m paying…but sometimes overpaying for a BIN is the only option if I really want the card.

BIN listings generally (not always) do better than auctions because they can get much better visibility (especially over time). Auctions, which are mostly done via eBay and capped at 10 days, are only visible to those individuals who notice the listing within its limited timeframe and have the time (and remember) to bid on a card. With BIN listings, you can let your card sit for a while before making a sale, let the right offer come to you. The longer you keep it listed, the more eyes it'll get. When it comes to selling a card, you only need one strong buyer. Furthermore, a superfractor is so limited that buyers don't have alternative options AND can/will overpay for it simply due to FOMO.

No argument. Well put.

Just, there are plenty of exceptions. A superfractor is not among them
