Those are the old fanatics exclusives, so not real “hobby”.

The die cut looks cool but also looks like dog took a bite out of it

Default Card Imperfections and Production-Related Particles Straight from Packs

I have opened enough '23-'24 Panini Select Basketball this year to realize that many of the cards come straight out of the pack with production-related dust and other misc. particles affixed to the back of the card as shown in the attached image. They resemble dust or little strings that are easily removed with a simple finger swipe - not even a rub, just a brief swipe. I am new to Select and dont usually do Chrome cards so perhaps this is the norm with it. I usually do very old baseball but I have Wemby fever.

I am usually a very old school purist at heart with sports cards. I like to keep my cards in the exact condition they arrived to me out of the pack - flaws, imperfections, fingerprints and all. That said, with this set in particular I find myself unable to do that.

I am noticing a lot of them being graded and encapsulated with these particles and "little strings" still affixed, and a lot are not.

I would prefer they are at least swiped away with my finger before being graded. Just wondering other thoughts on this especially from "purists" like me who balk at the thought of even wiping a chrome card down.

Walmart where I am vacationing has both blasters and megas available. Which one would you grab?

I think they have Mosaic also.

Select is by far the most fun to rip because of variety, but singles should become the play. Most are ripping optic, but select t has the highest floor because of the RC levels.

I agree. I opened a ton of both and got bored with Optic. There's just not enough to chase in Optic retail. I think Optic will be OK because the insert sets are selling way higher than I thought they would, and the base/RR set should hold value. I was also able to make a complete Pink Hyper set. So I would say there is more set value in Optic, but I'd rather be chasing the four levels of #'d cards and #'d inserts in Select. The blue retail sets may not be all that interesting to buyers but you can at least build out nice player lots.

I may also be biased since I pulled two huge #'d Victor out of Select but even that wasn't unbelievable considering Victor is 1:100 in Select v.s. 1:250 in Optic.

I just believe there are far fewer Target stores than Walmart and that plays a major role in why the Target Megas have better hit ratios. The red cracked Ice are more rare then the Blues for sure.

Appreciate the update. Opened a Mega that someone brought into the shop, hit a Green/White/Purple of Wemby, maybe worth half the box, doh! :-)

I just do not like these at all. They look like a miscut. JMO

This is the primary reason people don’t really chase the Premiere. It is the 4th favorite for me behind Courtside, Mezzanine and Concourse.

Interesting how the ovals connect. The three color actually looks good with the busy design.

Select seems to grade better than Prizm. Very nice results.

Mezzanine level is great because the players actually take up a good portion of the card, which has become more and more rare of a design pattern for Panini to use.

One of the reasons Prizm designs in the last few years have been so awful imo.

I totally agree! Mezzanine for looks is the nicest and right behind courtside in value long term imo

Another reason to buy singles! I would much rather spend the money on mezzanine and courtside silver Prizm and numbered parallels of players with good upside over ripping.

I spent time yesterday watching select hobby box rips and in one, 3 boxes, there was not a single base courtside pulled. I reached out to a breaker who I know and asked him the average he has seen. He said 3-5 per case and these are the base versions. Did Panini make these more rare or has that been the average from years back?

Also, how SSP are the gold glitter?
