Breakers. They can sell the individual player spots for well over $450.

This may be true but then why have these crazy prices only been for the past 3-4 years?

ROI is irrelevant, individuals opening boxes aren’t doing it for investment purposes.

Trillions of dollars in stimis. People had too much extra cash to blow and breaks are addicting.

How much did each individual person get?

So what are people who open Museum doing it for?

Enough to drive up the price of wax, of course!

I have a local Store who does breaks every night. I love going there on the weekends because the Gamblers (breakers) do not even want their hits unless it's a $50 plus card. So they sell back the stuff to the LCS for Breaker Credit and they just gamble more.

The LCS sells the stuff cheap, I picked up the 2024 Topps chrome RCs, refractors non numbers at a good price, and the Tier one relics that no one wanted for $3-$8 bucks. Got Soto, Piazza, Frank Thomas, etc relics for nothing

I love watching the breaks hoping the Addicts (Breakers) does not want the cards and just wants credit, so the LCS can sell it. Lol

Also if you have ever worked in an industry with varying levels of demand for different products from a manufacturer... you aren't getting the Class A product without buying their dogshit C product. So I'm guessing lots of breakers have to buy Museum and others just to get access to the quality stuff like chrome and draft and just try to make as much as they can.

I'm betting there aren't many and either they are ripping for fun and have enough cash not to care, are doing it out of habit, or are new and haven't had a horrible $400 rip yet.

I believe breakers and hobby shops have to buy a certain amount of garbage to get the good stuff.

Who rips Museum for fun though? It’s a terrible product at any price point. Who enjoys this stuff? Who collects it? This is what continues to baffle me. 25 years ago, the lesser products were at least appropriately priced.

So more so due to the stimulus than the breaking itself.

Do you honestly think people are opening the product thinking they have a better than 50/50 odds to make a return? Come on now…

A one time stimulus isn’t going to perpetuate breaking funds. However, the people with expendable income turned their stimis into more expendable income and have been using it to support the breaking industry, which ENABLED fanatics to increase prices to the highest bidders, the breaking culture.

It’s actually quite complicated but at the same time very straightforward.

The Local shop i go to who does Daily breaks have like 15 regulars, half are local who love going to the Indian Casinos. Usually they get like 3-4 new guys who "discovered" sports cards and will just use their gambling money on cards for months.

Their excuse, well I can take stuff home and get a chance at something good rather then driving to the Casino and maybe lose it all. And for some reason all these new guys are grading experts. This is Fanatics New customer base.

Haha, that’s funny to hear.

Many of the “whales” at my local shop are drug dealers, poker players and guys who deal with illegal car parts.
