and while he is doing that, he is using the funds from those sales to buy cards he is not talking about.

This is exactly why I stopped the conversation about the purple #700s. You are not satisfied until you feel you've justified you are 100% right and it is everyone else's burden to bring you proof, but you are exempt from having to provide any.

Bring me proof about what? During that discussion you provided nothing factual. However, everything i stated was indeed factual and it just happened to counter the narrative you were trying to run with, which included no facts, just your “we just dont know” takes of downplaying the purples value.

This is a forum where we talk about things and provide opinions. "We just don't know" is the appropriate response when print runs were never announced. Trying to create a "I'm right, you're wrong" scenario from such a situation is incredibly toxic. I don't like toxic people.

I never once said or claimed to know the exact print run of those. I only stated the fact that we do know which is less than 10 copies have surfaced since its release. You on the other hand provided made up scenarios and numbers to justify your narrative that they are niche, undesirable, and not that rare because “who knows” they could be hiding everywhere. Your take was the only thing toxic about that discussion.

TruBlue, or any other Shohei collectors, if you had a non-Ohtani card you were trying to trade, and wanted a 1 for 1 trade in the $2500 range, what are some cards you would consider? Are there any auto's in that price range worth trying for? Variation? RC #'d or parallel?

I just did a trade for my first "decent" Ohtani and will post a pic once I get it to try to get this thread back on a productive trend!

Wouldn't it be great if we could all work together as a forum and help each other out? Yes, I know we are all collectors/investors that are trying to get the best deals out there on Ohtani cards. Some like me just want to buy Ohtani cards and hold long term and enjoy the ride. I know others on here buy to flip and profit.

I know that many on here are sick of me asking questions on prices and the market. But thats only because I started collecting Ohtani in 2021 during his first MVP season. I am trying to understand everything as best I can so I can make informed decisions about the future of my collecting.

i think the best thing you can do Sean is to.... see a card you would like to own?.... can you afford to have it in your collection? by "afford" i mean is it in your hobby budget? if buying the card(s) is going to put your welfare in jeopardy then i would not buy it.

at the end of the day, its your collection. you have to be happy with it, monetary "value" aside.

Sapphire just came up, so that's a good one, but may need to settle with a 9.5 for the 2,500 range, or better yet a PSA 9. I think you can get a US1 Pitching SSP for around there. Also, perhaps a 600 heritage chrome black 9 might be around there or slightly above.

There are no noteworthy on-card rookie auto that I can think of it in the range.

Nah TBP is a stand up guy. He probably doesn’t remember but in 2016 he encouraged me and a few others to buy a US175 and a TC Lebron rookie as he said those would be key hobby cards.

Dual or triple auto with Ichiro or Nolan Ryan. Could be as high as $3500 though depending.
