Spencer Schwellenbach becomes the first rookie in the modern era with three consecutive starts with 8+ strikeouts without a walk.

Last start he joined Jared Jones and Masahiro Tanaka as the only pitchers to have 60+ strikeouts and 10 or less walks in their first 10 career starts.

Who cares about his WAR. He’s third in the NL in ERA while pitching in Cincy. That’s like a lefty hitter contending for the home run crown while playing for San Francisco. (A non-juiced lefty hitter, that is.)

This dominant streak is reminiscent of when Jack Flaherty’s second-half in 2019. He just flipped a switch and turned into an unhittable maniac.

This is all to say… It’s time to put him in Cy Young conversation.
