How are we feeling about the price drop on comc ebay shipping from 4.99 to 2.99?
Do you think there is any correlation between this price drop and the announcement of burbank pulling off ebay? Maybe COMC sees an open window to take a larger share of the sub $20 ebay sales?

One thing about the Ebay auctions that I have noticed is that buyer's that aren't paying after weeks, are still placing bids on auctions which I assume are going unpaid as well. It's this kind of action that makes me uneasy about sending any more cards to auction, as I have no recourse at this point, and it is probably affecting others even more than me.

I requested my shipment on Sunday night. They charged me $38, so I'm guessing it's going to be expedited shipping. It shows to have shipped today. So I might get it tomorrow or possible Friday (I'm guessing since they charged me so much they probably used something faster than priority).

I got charged something like $10ish but I don’t remember. I know it wasn’t the $30+ option

They were talking about doing this before the burbank thing. They wanted to do PWE shipping, but eBay didn't allow them to for awhile. They finally are able to. Although I do wonder how they will handle lost/damaged PWE's.

Theres like 3 different options. Youre the one that picked the most expensive one. Good for you, youll get it faster.

As others mentioned, it also depends how many total cards youre getting shipped and how many are either Graded or elite cards.

No, the cheapest was $4.99 and would've been like end of September getting here. The next cheapest was $38, which is what I chose. Then there was an express option for $109 and it would've been here this week. I chose the middle option, so not the most expensive genius. It's fine.

They're all PC, so I'm not worried about time. Just didn't want to wait until Christmas, so I chose the middle option, the $38. I'm not sure, but I think it might be based on the number of cards. Cause when I first went to ship, it was going to be like $31.

I didn't have enough in my account to ship, so I had to add $40. I picked out about $10 more in cards, but that bumped it to $38. So I think it might be based on the number of cards, which is weird.

No, the cheapest wouldnt have been 4.99 thats just the base shipping. You also get charged per card.
Ok, so you chose priority/rushed. The most expensive is Priority Express. Good for you pal. Now you know that you also get charged per card. Sometimes .25 cents a card, sometimes a $1 or $2.

Yea, I kind of thought you got charged per card. Not sure why, but it is what it is. Most of the cards (probably 95% of them) were $1 or less. So I bet I paid 50 cents per card (76 cards for $38 shipped). And that's without toploaders.

You're probably still in basic sellers mode, where the cheapest card you see on site is 26 cents. So you've already paid the 25 cent embedded shipping price per card, in order to get $4.99 shipping. When you went for rushed, they charged you an extra quarter per card in the order in order to grab them from the warehouse earlier.
So that's why some of the things you read don't apply to you. I can buy cards for a penny or two in Advanced Resellers Mode, but I have to pay that 25 cents per card when I decide to have any shipped home (+$4.99). You pay it up from and it carries over if you send it home. If you end up selling the card on COMC, you get reimbursed for the quarter when you sell it.

I have no idea what any of that means. I just have a base account. I haven't signed up for anything like advanced, and I don't even have a sellers account. I just buy on there. And not often. My last shipment was in 2018, lol. I went 6 years without buying a single card on that site.

For what you do, I suggest keeping things exactly as you have them.

In theory, you can choose to pay 25c less per card at time of purchase (or $1 for graded and elite cards) and then only pay that amount when (if) you ship the card. But this is really only matters in the grand scheme of things for people people like me and the other people that are chiming in here that buy cards to flip.

If you (or anyone else reading) did want to change that, go to Profile & Options, click (confusingly) on Outgoing Offers, and change to Advanced Reselling Mode.

Just FYI, COMC doesn't have a separate sellers account. If you ever buy a card and then decide you actually want to resell it, all you have to do is click on Inventory Manager and set a price for the card. You can get to Inventory Manager by hovering over the "Hello, crazy4kinsler" at the top right of the screen and selecting Inventory Manager from the drop down menu that appears.

Probably more information than you wanted, but hopefully the words make sense!

There are 2 buying Modes. You find them under your profile in Outgoing offers.
Simplified shipping mode: If you are in it, you will see no cards listed for under .26 as the .25 handling fee is added to the price at this time.
Advanced reselling mode: If you are in it, you will see cards under .26 as the .25 is not added at that time but will be added when you have them shipped to you. Resellers use this mode so they do not have that .25 tied up until they sell the card.

There are 3 shipping ways. Economy, Rushed, and Express.
Your choice was Rushed so it cost you another .50 per card plus the $4.99.

I would have waited a month rather than paying $35 more dollars on cards that you said cost like 50 cents per. September and Christmas are not the same time, so I could wait a month as you stated. Their shipping times are pretty much on right now. Actually I just got notification that a shipment of mine that was supposed to be out by the 30th of August was shipped today. That is over two weeks early.

I'm thinking about sending some cards in to sell. Just quarter type stuff that I'd like for like 30-50 cents each. Not anything big. Just stuff not worth putting on eBay (and the same type cards I've been buying for like 30-50 cents, lol. I just don't want to pay shipping. I know they set up at the Dallas Show, so I might sub them there. Never subbed, only bought before. So I look forward to some new opportunities.

Why would you send in 50 cent cards to sell when the processing fee is 50 cents....If you cannot sell it for $1.25+ its not worth sending in.

I didn't know the processing fee was 50 cents each. Why are there so many cards priced for 30-50 cents, or even up to a buck, if it costs that much? Are people that stupid that they'd like to lose 20 cents per item? That's the only reason I was going to do it. But at 50 cents each to process, can't you list for 60 cents to 80 cents and still be okay? Even 30 cents per card is fine. Better than what I'd get with it sitting in a box or even tossed in a dumpster (threw away (5) 5k count boxes of cards in July.

When I started at comc processing fees were 10 cents....the top 4 or 5 biggest sellers will buy up the 2 and 3 cent cards but they will only buy the ones that has a SRP that is how they get over a miilion in srp in makes them feel important..Those cards were either sent in back then, epack garbage or purchased in port sales...............60-80 cents not worth it as eventually there will be a race to the bottom and your 80 cent card will never sell..........

As well as the 50c per card processing fee (unless there is a special making it cheaper), you pay:
- 5% fee when the card sells
- 10% fee if you cash out (not a problem if you use proceeds to buy more cards.
- After the first 3 months after sending it in, 1c per month storage fee unless the card is listed at 75c or less (in Advanced Mode).

Unless it is a very high volume card that can sell predictably, I only look to send cards that I think will sell for $3 or more. If you send in a card that you think will sell for 75c, there might me three listed for 40c by the time you get there. The reason there are so many more modern cards listed at less than the listing fee is that many people misjudge what to send in.

I made this mistake when I first started selling in 2020, sending in a bunch of stuff like base flagship Jesus Luzardo rookie cards. It didn't end well.

And don't be fooled by card where none have sold for ages because prices are too high to sell. It may be that the cheapest Topps 1986 Joe Schlabotnik card if $3.50, but that doesn't mean it's going to sell for that price. If its a common card and no, or only a few, of the cards have sold in the last four years (bar chart in top left of the screen), that's a red flag.

I'm sure there were some things in the those 5K boxes you could have made a bit of money on, but my guess is for most of them it was both more profitable and less hassle to throw them in the dumpster.

I'm not trying to discourage you from selling, but rather trying to help you avoid some of the rookie mistakes I and countless others made when we were getting started.

Yes, there is an never ending line of people sending in cards that will never sell for close to the processing fee of 50-cents. Either it be ignorance, incompetence, lack of caring, etc. - you can see it happening every day, all day if you keep an eye on the recently added cards.

Some submitters have had to have lost thousands in processing fees by sending in absolute junk - it boggles my mind.

What also makes no sense is the amount of submitters sending in cards and pricing them at 5 to 10 times the lowest on the site, when there are numerous copies of the card available,

So many cards will never sell nor leave the COMC warehouse....

Was going to ask the same thing. Seems like a horrible strategy because 16 week on brand new releases feels unlikely to get nearly as much on site.

right and its not worth it to send in a lot of new stuff at $1 per card unless its all higher end and not say $3-5 cards
