The best of Jeter combined with the best of (a hypothetical non-juiced) ARod?

Ok hear me out and I get the positional differences but what about a pre-roids Barry Bonds? I mean he’s likely going to put up his second 30/30 season at the age of 24, tremendous growth in contact ability over the last few seasons. A guy that can consistently go .300/30/30 sounds like an early 90s Bonds.

Bibby Witt Jr is the ONLY Bobby Witt Jr and that’s ok with me. Careers can take such sharp turns quickly in this game.

Acuna Jr - 2018-2024
We all know and have seen this young man so things that leave our jaws on the floor in puddles of drool, but within the past 4 we’ve also seen two of his seasons drown in tears. All of us want this shining superstar to come back and play 10-15 more years but with two terrible injuries early, it’s hard to say whether he ends up a HOF. Age and time are on his side, but we will all have rapid heartbeats anytime Acuna comes up limping or hits the IL in the future.

Trout - 2010-2024
We all know his story. Longer sustained superstardom, touching supernova with 3 MVPs and oodles of accolades, but irrelevant to baseball legacy the past 3-1/2 years. With his career future on hold, many breathes are being held to see if Trout can come back from injury, after injury, after injury, to a seat at the baseball great table or will we settle for a last chapter filled with “if onlys” and “what ifs”. Trout is a 1st ballot HOF, but knowing there is so much more we could have seen is a cruel joke. The window for him to build on his already HOF career is closing.

Troy Tulowitzki comes to mind. 2006-2015 he was playing as one of the best players in the league, but injuries snuffed out the flames of a HOF career. As quick as he rose, he fell just as fast.

Lets’s just appreciate what Witt is doing. It’s amazing, and it’s awesome.

A painful reminder of how injuries are one of the main culprits for the Players and us as Collectors….

This is great and I certainly hope he keeps it up and becomes the next, whatever great player, but I’ll just say he’s the next great Royals player and I hope he continues to play well. He plays like George Brett did which is no surprise as George also hustled on every play throughout his entire career. He is the first player who reminds me of George.

In addition to all the wonderful players everyone is mentioning, his career so far also reminds me of HOF 2B Tony Lazzeri who was part of Murderer’s Row, only better.

But really, rather than worry about him being the next _____, I’ll just settle for him being Bobby Baseball.

Exactly. Until he wins 3 batting titles in 3 decades, leads KC to 2 WS and wins 1, amasses 3,100 hits and maintains a .305 career average, he won’t surpass Brett as the best Royal much less the “next” guy. He’s dun to watch and has a high ceiling. Right now he’s one of the top players in the game in 2024 and that’s good enough for me. No one can predict the next year much less the next 5-10.
