Completely agree with what you’re saying, the chance for Wemby and Lebron autos will protect from the product tanking. Once supply dwindles it’ll be interesting to see what happens! Definitely not the same type of break as the awesome high value Olympic/WBC/Star Wars products, but still a lot of fun when there are such high value cards in play.

Bowman 1st is nice but feels more catered towards baseball collectors (since they love BC 1st cards).

Topps Chrome has always been one of THE sets among basketball collectors (96-97 TC Kobe, 03-04 TC LeBron, 09-10 Curry, etc).

Based on such history, the base parallel on-card autos will be the ones to own. But that doesn't mean that the Bowman 1st autos will suddenly crumble in price.

Looks like all the autos, except for Wemby are stickers? Haven't seen a Curry or Lebron yet.
Man, this is basically a glorified & overpriced Leaf set.

Just remember, Curry's Topps and Topps Chrome rookie cards are of him in a white t-shirt (that year, rookies were in pajamas and vets were in uniforms). And, despite Curry not being in an NBA uniform, his Topps and Topps Chrome rookies are among his (and the overall hobby's) most desired/collected rookie card.

Unlicensed or not, Topps Chrome is Topps Chrome. Collectors want it regardless.

Currently Lebron James Fifth Year Laker Rookie cards will be in this product and we could see VICTOR WEMBANYAMA SECOND YEAR ROOKIES / BRANDON MILLER/SCOOT HENDERSON/STEPHEN CURRY PAJAMA CARDS and a few others if they get called up soon.
at $500 / hobby box doesnt it sound to good to be true?

Lebron fifth year laker Base Rookie will probably sell for $50-$75 while Wemby-BMill could be in the $25-50 range.

By this time PSA should have a $35-50 grading level


Any thoughts on the potential of this product as well as the current price?

I think it could be one of the hottest products if not the hottest of these past years.

Haha yessir! I don't think I have the balls to rip many of these so I'll have to enjoy vicariously through you :P

Also, one thing I previously forgot to mention is that most Wemby autos are live in the product. That's KEY for those wanting to hold the product (and will also help it from tanking).

If you needed to sell one for cash before spring training starts, and you plan to keep the other one for the length of the 2024 season and beyond, which card would you keep, regardless of how much you paid for them?

They are currently both about equal in value.

a. 2022 bowman chrome atomic auto/100 Elly de la cruz
b. 2022 bowman chrome yellow auto/75 Jackson Chourio
c. Sell both before spring training starts

Breakers are charging alot for Prizm and Optic boxes.These are licensed non-auto Wembys, no shot at an Auto.


At $300 these are cheap, breakers will end up buying all this up so they can scream out Wemby Sticker and Lebron Sticker Autos all day, and say your Durant parallel is a Box hit (lol).

People will gamble on Hype regardless of non-licensed or not. Future is Topps chrome basketball by Fanatics. This might be the lowest a Fanatics Topps Chrome box is ever priced if they actually have the license next year. (and that is a crappy draft class)

I wonder how the on card Wemby autos do (Certified and 1972) if the base colors are on card too. Regardless, any Wemby on card auto is going to a big hit in this product since its the only thing people are chasing besides Lebron autos.

The only thing I know, is what you've already said. Any on-card Wemby auto from this product (and even the base sticker auto) will be a big hit.

In my opinion, it all comes down to price-point.

With that said, at the current price-point, 23-24 TC BKB is significantly better value than 23-24 Prizm BKB and it's no contest.

I think this is more of a full apple to sliced apple than it is apple to orange.

The GSW logo doesn't hurt, but for collectors, it's more of an actual NBA uniform vs. no NBA uniform issue.

I see Topps has two different checklists for Hobby and Retail.

Seth Curry is on both but Steph Curry is only on retail.


What’s odd is that the number for Seth Curry in Hobby is CG-SC.

In retail, Seth is CG-SCU and Steph is CG-SC.

Let’s see how this pans out. I hope Steph is in Hobby too.

For what it's worth, I own a 09-10 TC Curry refractor BGS 9.

The logo is nice, but even without it, I'd still want the card (although maybe I would've been able to obtain it for a lower price without it). I don't care about the "Golden State Warriors" vs. "Golden State" wording on the back either, never actually noticed it haha.

I still disagree. The lack of logo is a huge deal.

This is the tier I rank product:
1. No logo / no autos
2a. No logo / autos
2b. Logo / no autos
3. Logo / autos with being in a jersey preferred over pajama.

1 obviously is the worse. 3 is the best. 2009 is still scenario 3 not 2a. Panini had jerseys with logos but Topps was clearly king with Panini being new to basketball and not having a comparable chrome card.

When there is no 2a, 2b is clearly the best of a bad situation but now that we have a 2a, the debate is new. Only time will tell though.

I don't understand how people can talk about "value" when no one knows how many Wemby autos there will be on this. I think LeBron is gonna have around 100 and that's not enough to carry the price IMO.
