Dalton in 5 games. 197 yards per game. 7 TDs 6 INTs

Young last season. 180 yards per game. 11 TDs 10 INTs

But also to be fair, Dalton in an old journeyman QB who was never as good as he was billed to be.

The Panther no doubt about it have issues, but a better QB would have had some more positive stats and maybe a couple more wins.

Andy Dalton is a 3 time Pro Bowl QB, who has launched 40,000 yards and over 250 TD's in this league.

And as far as "old" goes. He is ages younger than Aaron Rodgers. And pretty much the same age as Kirk Cousins, Matthew Stafford & Russell Wilson. 36 isn't that old for a QB with low millage on him.

None of that changes the fact he's a journeyman back up QB who has never been as great as he was supposed to be.

I’m confused? How great was he supposed to be? Feel like he had a better career than i thought he would have.

8 yrs with Bengals, one standout season with 33 TDs, rest were middle of the road. Then 4 teams in 5 seasons. has a passer rating of 57.8 with 873 yards, 1 touchdown and 6 interceptions in 4 games in the playoffs in his career.

All in all, he's just a guy. Nothing special. Better than some backups, not better than most starters. If this is what people think is a good QB, you need to up your expectations.

If CJ Stroud, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, or any top QBs were on the Panthers since last season with the same weapons, the results would have been better as far as stats and wins

You didn’t answer my question at all. How great was he supposed to be?

Ah, so all the Panthers needed to be better. Was one of the top 5 QBs in the league. Good to know! That sums up your argument.

I could name another 5-6 that’s not the point. Again you are making it sound like a top tier QB came in and couldn’t get it done so maybe Bryce Young is getting a bad rap. In reality Dalton is not a top QB. The team has issues clearly but they also don’t have great or special QBs capable off maximizing what they do have

Andy Dalton has had a great career.
Picked in 2nd rd out of TCU for an awful franchise. 3x Pro Bowl, almost 40k yds, 4x playoff appearances, 250+ TDs.
No not a HOF but certainly a very good career.
The franchise sold everything for Bryce, whiffed on Ekwonu, had no assets to build out due to the Bears trade, has the most petty and meddlesome owner in sports, traded their best defensive asset (Burns), fired their coach in under a year ect.
Would Desmond Ridder have done better?
Bryce has his issues but the franchise really needed that 1 OVR last year. And by all told Reich wanted Stroud and was vetoed by Tepper. Who refuses to finish a 50mm practice facility and stiffed the contractors.

Dalton isn't a guy that is investment worthy thus not as great as he was supposed to be.

Investment-wise.

4 teams in 5 years. That doesn’t happen to “great” quarterbacks

Well I wasn’t collecting cards at the time Dalton came into the league, so his investment potential has nothing to do with my criticism of him. I’ve never bought a single card of his.

People are missing the point- I’m not saying he sucks. I’m not hating on him. I’m just pointing out the FACT he’s a journeyman QB who hasn’t been a quality starter in years. I think he’s a great backup. The one poster said that even the great Dalton didn’t have success with the Panthers offense so it can’t be all Bryce Young that’s the problem. It’s as if they were saying that Tom Brady or Peyton Manning played and even they couldn’t make a difference for the Panthers.

Again, if you like journeyman QB’s that are on 4 teams in 5 years, this guy is right up your alley. Some of us expect more from our QBs

I don't think you understand the difference of a great quarterback vs a great career.

You also failed to read the first sentence.

Carry on

Okay he’s had a great career(in your opinion) still does not change the fact he’s a journeyman backup on a bad team

Let’s get back on track because Dalton is not the future of the franchise- Bryce Young is or at least was expected to be

That was covered in the rest of my post you declined to respond to. Your boy got picked by a better situation by far and has still exceeded expectations. Good for him. I think Bryce got put in the 2nd worst position for a #1 QB in modern times outside of 2021 Jaguars. I for one own nothing of note and wish him the best on Sunday at 6:30 AM EST. I won't be waking up early to watch. Go Bryce!
