Yeah, everything from this is selling fast if priced fairly. I did better than average in regards to Red Pandoras.

I was going to stop after 20 but I was so p1ssed at not pulling a regular downtown that I just rage opened the last 15 boxes and still got no regular downtown.

Ugh good gravy my friend. I'm sorry.

How many products provide that type of floor and possible ceiling? Not many.

Regarding hoarding - you'll have to ask the people who are doing that.
You're right. If you have an established aandns streamlined ebay, this is a dream product.

Good call, for sure.

Hate it when that happens, but good info to have for those trying to decide whether to break.

It's funny that these are out already and there isn't even a First Buzz about Donruss football and no date of when they will be released in their more standard formats.

No checklist either.

That's why all of these cards are selling so well. It's literally the only pro uniform cards for this class. Not to mention the NFL season is in full swing.

Product hit the floor at the perfect time.

This was Lawrenceville NJ around lunch time today. I spent afew minutes explaining to a rather nice lady who was thinking about grabbing one for her nephew that no, you don't just get a ton of the same Aaron Rodgers card.

the funny part is that costco is going to see how well these sell and then order 100000000 cases of the prizm/select/optic versions and have them rot on the shelf when they finally get printed in august 2025

You are 100% correct on this except once one of the items does rot on the shelves, typically Costco won't bring it back so they'll get out of this market.

The only way for a SKU like this to do well is it to be the first of its kind or year on the market, like these were.

Well I only grabbed two from that pallet and got me a legit Kelce DT, that was fun - especially since you know you have one when you rip and fan and do the reveal

I live nearby was at the same store a few hours after you posted (didn't see your post until after my visit) and the amount of boxes left was about 1/3 of what is in your photo.

Agreed.

I don't usually buy football cards, as I'm waiting for the return of Topps football proper (not the lame, no logos stuff) to restart my flagship collection, but I vaguely remembered this thread when I was at Costco yesterday, and sure enough, they had maybe a couple of dozen of these left.

I bought just one, and I don't think I did all that well, but it was still fun to open some football cards again. Since Topps lost their license 10 years ago, I think I opened one random Panini pack, maybe two (from Walgreens) over that whole span.

Anyway, here's what seems to be the best from my lone box:

And here's the oversized Downtown:

wow just realized they use the same background for Dick Butkus and Caleb. That's very lazy on Panini. Never seen DT from same year have same backgeound before

Not like they had any shortage of buildings to choose from for all three to be different.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...ngs_in_Chicago

The lack of Sears Tower is glaring.

My favorite is that the DT this year are AI generated.

Talk about a soulless bent.

Id disagree. I like that "Downtown" actually shows Downtown. And not just a mismash of things you may find in that city or even just state.

The 2020 DT Walter Payton showed him with cupcakes, candy and cookies. And then they tossed the giant inflatable Bear they enter the stadium through on there. I assume the treats were for his nickname, Sweetness. But none of that has anything to do with Downtown Chicago.

In 2021, they showed the skyline, the marinas, and the Ferris Wheel of Navy Pier. All of which is downtown Chicago.

Disagree, the best downtown art focuses on the theme of the team rather than focusing too much on the buildings that literally exist in the downtown of the team

Not to say they can't be incorporated, but when you put too many buildings in there (unless there's some super unique building in a city) all the cards end up looking the same

And its OK to disagree! But then why name the insert set Downtown? Why not "Here are some random things loosely related to a players city, state, nickname, team ...." That seems like a good name for an insert set.

The pictures on your examples, are a farting magical unicorn circling a pink planet.

A dragon for a team in Orlando, called the Magic (Are dragons magical? And whats with the fairy tale book?)

And I give a pass to the Oklahoma card. I just assume their downtown is literally covered in roaming buffaloes and windmills. That one can stay.

The Banchero pays homage to the Dragon Challenge roller coaster at Universal Studios. That one is creative IMO. They snuck a Harry Potter crossover into a basketball card and it completely went over your head, but that's what makes it so awesome!

I think the original set was "From Downtown" around 2015, 2016 and featured guys that were good 3 point shooters against the background of their cities, which works on multiple levels. Great.

The way it is today, they should call it "Our/My City" and show guys doing stuff around town. It would be fun seeing Paolo actually in Disney or doing charity work around Orlando. If they keep it "Downtown" then show the guys in front of some famous building/landmark in the city. Caleb on his first visit to the Sears Tower. Not just action shots superimposed over cartoons of the places they play.

It lacks creativity at this point (like Kaboom and most other things they've run into the ground).

Checklist is up. Parallels haven't been announced yet, but the base list is available.
