Default Possible to cut out 24-25 cards altogether to extend Wemby run?

With Impeccable 23-34 coming out in January, 2025, got me thinking. You could still integrate the current draft class, ala the old Contenders Prizm, but maintain the RC logo shield on brand Wemby another year and a half, essentially until the Panini contract runs out. Call it 23-24 Prizm Series 2. That would avoid having to resurrect brands already given up on like Flux well into 2025, which I am sure is another option on the table.

I guess that was a nonstarter.

Couple questions as a casual. Has Wembanyama started to perform more up to growth arc expectations? No one is expecting the Spurs to win it all, but they will probably make it to the playoffs, right?

Has there been an interesting game, money-on-the-line worth, beyond the Celtics-Pacers upset before Nesmith's injury? Looking to watch a couple games and get cues for the collecting season.

Wouldn't it have the same effect as a buyback auto or something like that in which the "2023-2024 Prizm Series 2" is still effectively the 2nd year even if it has a rookie shield on it?

Sounds like it would just be confusing for collectors, newcomers, and also not that profitable for Panini since the people ripping tons of product probably know it's not really a rookie card and don't want it

Yeah, but the so-called experts also picked only 4 of the 7 right rookies in 20-21.

i truly dont understand how they release a 23/24 product almost in the middle of 24/25 season.

I just cant find any logic in that.

If the Spurs make the playoffs, Wemby is the MVP. The roster outside of him is bad.

They are a lottery team

Could 24-25 basketball products drag down the entire card industry?

Of course not, but it's the best chance we have of seeing pre-Covid wax pricing for the first time. 10.3 PPG leads all rookies at the moment. Even the gamblers are smart enough not to play ball. They are either going to cut production across the board and load up the boxes with whatever they can, or slash pricing enough that a box of Donruss can still be sold to set guys in spite of a poor class. Even if they start prices high, everything is coming down. This we know.

A good amount of 2023 NFL products haven't come out yet and we're halfway through the 2024 season.

A lot of high end 2023-24 NBA products haven't been released yet (NT isn't scheduled to come out till mid-December).

And hockey cards? They just released a 2022-23 product a couple weeks ago.

Snowball of delays that started 3-4 years ago and was made worse in 2022 when Fanatics bought the main printing company that Panini utilized.

Even though this post is in jest, they probably should since I bet 80% of people on the street outside an NBA game won't be able to name who went #1 in this year's draft. Not to mention the guys with the most name power were drafted at #9 and #55. Beyond Bronny pumpers no one is gonna care about this year of products like Banchero's year and retail will sit.

Prepare to be shocked. Play-in team no doubt, look who else is beneath them in the west.

They are EASILY the 3rd worst team in the west. The only teams that are measurably worse are the Jazz and Blazers.

Are they as good as the Clippers? No Pelicans? No Grizzlies, Kings? No

Seriously, how are they even going to get into the play in?

Only teams I can confidently say they're better than are Utah and Portland.

The play in would be a surprise
