First Buzz: 2024 Panini Select WWE wrestling cards

If MSRP on hobby is $225, I wonder why the FOTL floor was $150. Panini has been running auctions for 5 years. This would be the only product in history that the FOTL floor price was below hobby MSRP.

So my extensive list of people I collect have a lot of cards in this set of course. I'm happy that some people like Naomi and Drew have a lot of stuff with multiple cards in the three tier base set/inserts, both get a relic, and both have two autos with one being the auto relic.

Sadly Austin Theory is oddly left off of the auto list which is some BS. Looking through the list I also found Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, Chelsea Green, Cora Jade, Grayson Waller, and Trick Williams exclusion from any of the auto sets to be odd. I don't PC any of them but I know they have their fans and they are showcased a lot. Does that mean Theory and any of those people could be a redemption auto? Like redemptions are not listed but are some of the people on the checklist redemptions and we don't know it yet? Or is it if they are MIA on the checklist then they have no chance of even being a redemption? I don't like redemptions really anyways because they take forever and with them losing the license soon Idk how I feel about them actually fulfilling any in the last sets they release. But there is a chance they could do their job and those cards would be nice to add to the collection for any fans of those wrestlers.

At least my dude Charlie Dempey got on the auto list. He was snubbed in Photogenic and I disliked that. Wade Barrett is not a sure thing either auto wise so it's nice I'll have at least one new card of his to get.

I was telling one of my card friends a while ago that three of my top retired girls Alundra Blayze, Michelle McCool, and Molly Holly rarely get base cards and if they get in a set its for an auto. That was true for 2024 Prizm but all three got a base card in Photogenic while McCool also got two autos which was great. This set however switches it to these three only getting base set cards and no autos. Better than being left off entirely but still not ideal.

Idk why Panini keeps picking favorites with Pretty Deadly! I like both so it's frustrating and very peculiar that they again snubbed Kit Wilson of a base card when they also have an Elton Prince base card in the set. It first happened in Prizm this year but twice is a row is so dumb. I mean I absolutely don't want them to leave both off the list but in Prizm Kit Wilson didn't get a base card while Elton did so now Elton is going to have way more cards with all the parallels. Too bad they don't group tag teams together because that would be a welcomed compromise and would allow them to include more people since teams like The Street Profits would now only have one card. At least both got autos but someone needs to do a better job.

I'm scrolling through the checklist, as I finalize this post, and I just saw that Panini is doing Kayden Karter dirty in favor of her tag team partner Katana Chance just like they favor Elton to Kit.. Katana gets a base card, a relic, and an auto while Kayden only gets a relic. So wtf? Make it make sense...

I'm hoping that maybe Kit is in the Mezzanine level but that set isn't in the checklist yet. A couple others I PC will hopefully get a card in that 100 card checklist. I'm very eager to know when it will be revealed since those cards are obviously the hardest to find and only in retail iirc.

Probably so Panini can show a non-basketball product sold out near the middle of their range instead of approaching the floor for once.

That's all I'm asking, seems sketch, especially since "factory costs" went up yet I don't think current pre-orders are much higher if any than last year's prices.

Is what it is, I'm still picking up a box, definitely don't trust the MSRP though.

Interested to see how early Vaquer, Giulia, Jacob Fatu cards do once FOTL rips hit.

First stuff is on eBay including a Punk /99 auto and a /5 Otis. Stuff looks great so far imo.

Yeah I was in a break and pulled a non numbered redemption for a ringside signature of hers. Meanwhile saw in another break that the same ringside signature but as a red /99 was live.

Best hit was probably a Lime Green /75 of Tiffy

Is the WWE pump over until they return to Topps? Kind of surprised at low prices so far, $99.99 for Hogan auto, $26 for a Jade rookie insert /99, $150 for Giulia Ringside /25. Other than Giulia I imagine the others going for higher opening week.

I was a part of 4 case breaks, and watched 3 other cases get opened last night. No Fatu to be seen. He only has ringside and Color Wheels, but you'd think at least one base ringside would pop up in that many packs.

They have rookie cards out there from other sets outside of WWE. Unless there's a major gimmick change, and they both kept their names, they respect previous RCs out there.

This is the worst break Ive had of anything in awhile lol. Was 4 #d color always in Select boxes? I swear I got more before

That 90th Anniversary CMLL card doesn't really fit into the definition of a rookie card. It's more of a promotional/insert. There's no numbers on the cards, the back of every one of them is the same promotional picture..etc.

She doesn't have a 'base' card in a licensed set like Giulia does.

I was in two breaks so far where I saw what I got and I'm happy so far.

In one I had 7 people and managed for a ten box break. I managed to hit a gold auto (10/10) for Kit Wilson. Beyond thrilled that $4 got me that! Charlie Dempsey had a /249 and /149 prizm but the other five only got base stuff (Elton Prince, Myles Borne, Nathan Frazer, Riley Osborne, and Joe Coffey). . So $46 in total but still I'm very happy because it could have been way worse.

A different break of two full FOTL cases I did where I only had Charlie, Myles, and Wade Barrett saw me walk away with some nice things. The included a FOTL /8 Charlie Dempsey prizm and a /99 red Charlie Dempsey auto. Myles and Wade didn't get me anything beside a base Myles Ringside but that's to be expected since Wade only has autos and Myles only has the rare Ringside card. That was $30 well spent for me. Now I'm kinda hooked smh after my previous two breaks made me tell myself to stop doing them... -_-

And because of that success I spent $22 for a full box break hunting these wrestlers: Austin Theory, Kit, Elton, Charlie, Myles, (and I guess Damon but I really don't want him...). That break should be in a couple of days so I'm hoping my hot streak lives on.

Even though I have the slight potential to pull Kit autos, I couldn't pass up the $15 /49 blue version of Kit's auto I saw on eBay. I've not bought anything else yet but with so many boxes being opened there are too many things to buy at once. I'm trying not to be too impulsive and let the prices drop for things like I typically do but we'll see. I guess I can really focus on getting stuff for my people I've not got anything for yet like Drew McIntyre, Naomi, Riley Osborne, Nathan Frazer, JD McDonagh, Alundra Blayze, Molly Holly, and a few more.

Anyone else have any luck with breaks, opening up their boxes, and or buying stuff on eBay/etc so far?
