Maybe I'm just cranky but idk why we would agree to help a division rival.

I wonder if the Yanks will have to use the visitor clubhouse.

Yanks are getting a cut of the sales. Estimated to be around $15m

Yeah I remember Blue Jays in Dunedin pricing being high at beginning and turned me off from ever considering attending. I can only imagine the parking costs as well now. (Never paid for parking here for games at Trop)

Called it. Though I am not buying that the Tampa Tarpons will play their games on the backfields of Steinbrenner Field. Didn't the Dunedin Jays use Jack Russell Stadium (Clearwater) a few years back when their stadium was being renovated? Maybe the Tarpons can do the same.

Tarpons can literally go right across the street to USF

Yeah, we went to a day game last year during spring training there and had to leave by the 5th inning as it was just too hot.

Someone said either upthread or another thread that Oakland Rays has a nice ring to it.

Apparently the deal for a new stadium is now dead so it sounds like they will be the Nashville Rays, Charlotte Rays, Montreal Rays or something in the future

So you have a source in this? I don’t think the deal is dead, not from what I’ve been hearing. But I can’t say I’m the Rays Stadium expert.

I don't think it is dead either, seems like posturing from the Rays now to get what they want over some bureaucratic delay.

Yeah seems like when teams make deals they are not really deals lol. (A's now Rays)

They wanted the vote to happen to release funding before the election but it was delayed due to hurricanes so now there's 2 new county commissioners that are not so friendly yet. Rays are gonna have to pony up I think, for this to happen.

I don't think the stadium ever happens to be honest.

Maybe not dead but the hurricanes delayed the vote and then the election changed the composition of the board. Obviously everyone will posture, but it actually is a really bad deal for taxpayers.

Stu has got to sell at some point. If he and his compadres can't afford to build a respectable ballpark for their team, then they don't deserve to own a team.

There are plenty of investors that would jump on the opportunity to own a sports franchise in Tampa.

Just a suggestion

They suspended the vote because Rays ownership presented new terms. It sounds like best case is it goes forward and and earliest new park is ready is 2029 which is after the Rays lease with the city is over.
