Lol unobtanium is a perfect way to describe that one. Not sure how many people in here are in the Facebook group “Bobby Witt Jr Collectors” but whenever someone posts the Image variation from TC Sonic there’s usually people saying it’s the first time they’ve ever seen one

One of my favorite rookie images of Bobby got wasted on the 2022 NSCC Exclusive Bowman Chrome rookie which investors and flippers probably hate because it’s from a random / worthless product.

When I see a high pop card like the mullet SP selling for so much I generally associate that type of card with being invested in or pumped versus things that are hard to find and don’t get sold as often.

As far just image alone, my personal favorite is his ‘22 Bowman’s Best.

• 2022 Flagship SP (mullet), base and debut black
• 2022 Heritage throwback, black and gold refractor
• 2022 Topps Sapphire Gold SP (I don't think people realize how much harder of a pull this card is versus the Sapphire update)
• 2022 Topps Chrome Sonic SP (Another card that seems to not register given how rare it is, it's also a cool image not used elsewhere)
• 2022 Topps Chrome Update Refractor /299 and Gold Refractor /50...in a PSA 10, the QC of this set is the worst its been since 2012.
• 2022 Topps Reverence RPA (sneaky good cards)

These update refractors are two big ones on my wish list

Me too. Would love to add more mullets. I have 2 right now, The update sp and mini sp.

I doubt the warm up suit ssp will ever dip much unless Bobby's career takes a dive. It's a $1000+ card in PSA10 in the offseason.

I am partial to 22 bowman's best masterpiece insert. Bobby looks like he is planning on killing the pitcher.

Love the conversation. I think the mullet card is the card I would want to own out of all of them. When I think of Bobby Witt cards, it is the card I think of. Obviously there will be more valuable so to speak but I would put that as his most iconic RC personally.

i think we here for the most part are the outliers for collecting
(investing folks here? yea, many. but that does not interest me as these are cards)

The Mullet. That card already has that name, and that is a good thing when it comes
to talking to regular folks about Bobbys 2022 releases. They generally know what
you mean when you say The Mullet card. Familiarity in this hobby is popular.

The Sonic SP reminds me of Bryce's 2012 TC SSP

main difference is that Sonic is a terrible release. at least the boxes are super cheap in 2024 haha

Agreed. I'm mainly a collector but I think images matter above all else. Cards are for looking at after all! Unfortunately Topps has gotten worst when it comes to selecting them.

I agree. The Harper SP rarely surfaces. Right now there are none of the Witts on the market and I assume as time goes on, it will be a rare sight to see one.

Sonic is super cheap and still overpriced. At this point only the Witt cards have any real desirability (he is the only active player I collect) and they are real tough to pull. The Bobby IV is only 1 in 250 cases. The Bobby SP is a little easier at 1 in 31 cases. Bobby Expose 1 in 50 cases. Bobby Youthquake is about 1 per case.

Great cards in a trash product. Buy singles or rip for a cheap fun break.

What an incredible card! What a great card to show off in a first post. Don't stress over the grade. For that card any grade is fine. The gem rate is only 50% and it is so rare, the grade will not hurt it much. I would enjoy it in my collection in basically any condition. I do not think that the photo was used on any other card and it's a good photo too.

Curious, what is your motivation for picking up that many of the same card? As a collector I will never understand needing more than one of the same image unless you're chasing a rainbow or something along those lines.
