I have been real lax with it since covid. I felt liked it works when you stick with it. I give myself one player per sport if warranted. It coincides with buying next to zero wax since you aren't chasing rookies. The hard part is when a player's card actually goes up a ton after rookie or second year. You have to keep in mind, you should be paying less for others and cost avoidance for busts.

1. Set a budget and stick with it.
2. Downsize/Consolidate what I collect.

Continue to enjoy following the sport and churning ballcards of potential breakout players.
Take advantage of the somewhat suppressed off season singles market to dabble in a few more mid 20s hitters to try and add some balance to my currently heavy majority of pitchers.
I’m also considering adding a passive card “collection” next year too for the first time in about 16 years. Maybe a vintage set, or a modern-ish parallel or auto set. For funsies.

1. Don't buy wax!! (I spent $200 at my LCS on Black Friday boxes and have 3 relic cards to show for it )
2. Spend less on low end and save for higher end cards I want.
3. Consolidate my wrestling and golf and focus mainly on baseball and 1 basketball PC guy.
4. 1994 Upper Deck Mantle / Griffey Dual auto

It’s been a common theme of these threads for at least three years now.

The hobby is on life support, get out while you can. Gambling on the other hand is full steam ahead. For now.

I don’t think so. It’s just a natural result of enjoying Baseball Cards - you end up with too many of them. You can’t collect them all. No one has said their goal is to liquidate 100% and quit entirely. Every once in a great while someone does announce that here, but sometimes they come back, too. The Hobby is dead. Long Live The Hobby.

Downsize. Get rid of the majority of ungraded cards and reduce graded to 50. This doesn't include the 84 Donruss PSA set though, undecided on keeping and continue to build or sell off the entire thing

600-700K in baseball cards, already organized by team, are going out in flat-rate, or trash.
Organize Chipper, Jeter, select keepers and Throwbacks into topload binders.
Get rid of Football, Basketball and Hockey junk one way or another.
Get collection down to a handful of boxes and binders.
I doubt I get to everything else I want to pare down in 2025.

1A - Make it to 40th b-day and somehow appreciate it despite the health tightrope I walk.
1B - Find a sports card I really would like to have for something that fits into the PC. Bucket list style but hopefully more dramatic (we all dream if life allows).

2. If time and body complies, sell what little misc. lying around. It's down to a single sellers box of stuff. Left baseball completely this year.

3. Again, time is available to spare, continue my remaining PC's. Funds to purchase are as tight as ever to find new pickups but wish to remain among the cards till it's time.

4. 1 cent opinion in a billion dollar world, but as the days go by in the 15 years this coming April I've read this forum, people here find reasons to be upset at the hobby infinitely but take for granted the trading card purpose they give to some of us. Please take a moment this holiday season to stop and understand what the fundamental sentiment is in trading cards and why you buy lots of them every year. Lots of players and lots of team and the cards attachment to them in your hands and your collection that you can share with others. That's why I've had collection threads all these years. To encourage others to share your PC drives. No more publications to feature these. There's some youtubers and IG pics of course but as someone who has been in the sports card aisle of life for a long continuous journey to find the next cool cards, share your cardboard slices of peace with anyone you can find. Everyone has their pursuits even if your family and friends are physical activities or travel or events, but for those with these hobby pastimes, share and spread the good word about the idea of collecting and the passion of sports that go with them.

Happy Holidays to all of BO who reads.

Find your card lot in life
