Are you paying Purdy like Love/Hurts. Not hypothetical. Are YOU committing those dollars to Purdy based on what you know - not the market - but what you see, and what's best for the team?
Yes.

Unless you have full trust in Shanahan to find another franchise QB in the next draft.

If Purdy was to leave, where would he be a good fit? I was thinking about the Jets. That could be a good one, they mirror 49ers to some degree. Great D, couple receiving weapons, and a good RB.

I would consider Purdy an upgrade immediately over Rodgers. He has weapons, and they will play defense. Could be a nice transition
Well, rebuild means you finish the contract of the old guys, draft supoorting cast and finally in 2 years or so draft a QB with potentially top 3 overall pick, thats the alternative than keep on kicking the can down the road with aging superstars

Hufanga out.
Warner, fractured ankle.
Greenlaw out since SB injury.
Hargrave out.
1st round draft pick SHOT before season.
CB 1 C. Ward out for a stretch after losing daughter.
Williams out a few games, now may miss time with loss of infant daughter.
Bosa injured, now missing time.
Kicker AND punter missed/missing time.

I know it's next man up but there are VERY few teams that can still win with an injuries like this.

Maybe Purdy got too much credit playing with "The Avengers" but they are more like The Avengers after Thanos did the snap right now... a bunch of cast-offs, rookies and beat up players right now. It's Kittle and Jennings with Puni a bright spot on the O Line. And the D is playing OK inspire of inconsistency and injury.
yeah, you're not wrong. But, if you decide to sign Purdy to 50m, surely you'd also lose some of that players you mentioned. So, possibly CMC, and Deebo out. Do you think 49ers have SB chance with 37 years old LT, Kittle, Mason, and Aiyuk? And thats if everyone healthy, you know some of those guys are also injury prone

I believe the window is still open next year whether they pay Purdy or not. I believe they have cap space in 2025 to handle a big contract and all their other stars are under contract (including Deebo who they might trade though - I'd prefer Aiyuk, Jennings, Pearsall at this point I think)

2026 is where things get complicated after they pay Purdy. And this would apply as well if he played under the tag. The tag would be over 40 million against the cap which would probably end up being more than what his cap hit would be under a big contract (usually the cap number is lower in the first 2 or 3 years)

It will be interesting to me to compare this with the Russel Wilson window for the seahawks. They had a 3-year window with a rookie contract and they won one SB (2013), lost one SB (2014), and then after Wilson got paid (highest contract at the time) (and got paid a second time). The seahawks were still a good team and made the playoffs for the next several years, but they didn't get to the SB again.

Absolutely, as I said you can absolutely kick the can down the road. But, at what cost? Purdy 80m cap hit on year 3 or 4 doesnt sound very enticing and pretty much nothing can be done by then

What is wrong with this Purdy card?

What earned this a PSA5? I know I am looking at it on a computer screen and not in person, but the corners and centering seem good. I can't see any clear damage

Surface wrinkle or crease. If not that then another surface issue.

There's something over the C in "Career Stats" on the back. That alone isn't going to make it a 5, so I have to imagine it's a surface issue that the scanner isn't picking up. Roller dents, fingernail indents, a scratch, something along those lines.

I'm not up on the card market, bailed when everything 10x'd during the pandemic, but pretty impressive that a PSA 5 Purdy Rookie Sticker Auto from Panini Honors is at $170 with three days to go, when most of these auctions' activity usually happen within the last 5 minutes or so.

Also impressive - PSA is up to serial #s starting with 9! They're going to have to go from 8 to 9 digits on serial numbers soon - should probably make it 10 digits just to future proof it for a while.

Yeah, doesnt matter if the corners and edges are perfect. Thats why you see many 6s or 5s that “look” great. Closer inspection will show a surface indent or wrinkle.

Yes Purdy prices holding steady. I bought my 2 autos at the height of the Purdy craze, and they are going for about the same now

The latest PSA app update is partially to accommodate 10 digits and I just saw my first sighting of 10 digit card.

Finally submitted my Purdy autos to SGC for grading.
Both look to be excellent, one a bit better than the other. Thinking 10/10 - 10/9 range
Will post results when I get them hope by next weekend

Just remember, he’s not the one dropping passes and he can’t block for himself

he's 35m/year qb at best but we all know 49ers will overpay for him to keep him otherwise some other braindead gm will offer him 60m
