As posted earlier, the Ace Universe mail-in signing fee was $280 for Paul Rudd.
A $340 pricetag is right in line with this, and we shouldn't have expected different. What I find interesting is that they have posted Grade8, Grade9, and "AU" samples. Is your delivered card a complete crap-shoot? |

Interesting that with just 41 cards it isn't sold out by 2:10 eastern. I don't like the grade gamble either but just tried one in my cart and it was still available. (did not buy one)

True enough but that’s why StarPics should print and have signed more cards than necessary, then submit them all and hope for the best. Maybe they did and these are the best. I guess it’s only an issue if it affects sales. And it really depends on what the market for these cards is. Casual collectors might not care about getting an 8 or a 9 but I have to think most of the people paying $340 for one of these graded cards isn’t going to be happy with anything except a 10. The closest comparison we have to this is Leaf, right? (The back of the Rudd looks like a Leaf card, btw!) But even a Rudd 1/1 Leaf auto wouldn't run you $340. A CGC slab and it being hard-signed doesn't mean you can charge more than twice what a crappy Leaf card would go for. Much less hitting one of the "base" cards.

Megan Fox has pink hair? Seems like an odd photo choice.
Is she still relevant? How many autographs does she have out there already? I know of Transformers, and Pop Century 2015, 2016, 2017, 2021, 2022 maybe others too. . . Many recent sales under $100. |

She was in a recent Netflix movie and is also having Machine Gun Kelly's child.

I agree it's an odd photo choice. On the other hand, it stands out which, quite honestly, is what StarPics needs at this point.

I assume the price will be lower than Paul Rudd. My guess is that the card price is tied to the fee the celeb charges for their signing. I think she charges $200. I'd think these slabbed, on-card autos would fetch a premium over the Leaf sticker autos, but not a huge premium. If a Leaf card goes for $100, I would think these might go for $150. |

You can add to cart and they have 31 of 41 Paul Rudds left. I really wonder how this will work out even though I am pretty sure I know the answer. I think these are viable at like $100 each or something that they can't actually charge due to the low print runs. I just don't see it lasting too many more cycles and these being clearanced out when they close it down.

Using the same trick since it worked for Rudd, for Megan Fox:
"og: price:amount" content="250.00" I am not a fan of the grading either, and part of the issue is they are no doubt factoring that into the pricing. So I'd be paying extra for a service I didn't want in the first place. Last edited by Joshi City; 01-14-2025 at 09:00 AM. |

Interesting that they are ONLY showing the "gem mint 10" option,
unlike the Paul Rudd that showed "8" being an option. |

This doesn't seem to be going great for them, but for those interested they have added a third signer - Iman Vellani. I'm not familiar with her, the card costs $100, 41 made. There are still Paul Rudd and Megan Fox cards available as well.

Yeah for less than that I can get a licensed card of her signed as Ms Marvel. It's a sticker, but still better to me.

That's the problem with these nobody-companies. I could create Glorbgorb LLC, create my own cards (not hard to do at all...), and mail them in to these private signings. That's all Starpics did. Are they a "real" company outside of this? That's why I never understood the hullaballoo over the signed Eminem cards from several months back. It's like grading--there are dozens of no-name third-tier companies. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

End of the day what matters is if the cards sell which shows the demand. If they aren't selling, the pricing/presentation doesn't work and there are a lot of issues with STARPICS which is why they aren't successful. |

We've lost so many manufacturers in entertainment cards I'm happy when anyone tries it -- and if they produce a good product that interests me I'm a buyer regardless if they are an established player or someone working on their first set out of a spare bedroom.

Releasing these cards one at a time reads more like someone with a decent printer and knowledge of who's doing signings when and where, nothing more. And honestly I don't see GAS as any different. Maybe it's semantics, but StarPics isn't making a "set" they are releasing a card. They are basically a custom card maker. * I know, you can't have pedigree without starting from nothing.

Since this company still exists and is trying (no card yet has sold out), up next is Jude Law. Releases in two hours. Source code shows the price as being $295.00. At least Jude Law is a unique signer, don't know the last time he signed cards (if ever) but I don't think he is really popular either so may still be too high.
Not to beat the dead horse but selling the cards pre-graded and making the cards more expensive to justify that decision was not a good one. |

I like Jude Law. I don't $300 like Jude Law. As stated above they're likely going through these private signings. Well we all can do that. And get it personalized on a photo of our choice. So why buy these cards? Their business model just sucks. Their cost to make these makes it impossible to make money.
