The auction page initially said 1 auto with no mention of what Choice Prizms were numbered to. They changed it to 2 autos but the box on the auction still said 1. This is online exclusive only as far as Im aware so not sure if it is 2 autos why they wouldn't change the box image. Only time I can think of that autos were different than what the box said was for a FOTL they didn't change the box from hobby version except for the FOTL sticker.

The checklist was up today but nothing showed up. Still no way to check what the Choice Prizms were numbered to. Panini's email said 3 Choice Prizm Exclusives /20 or less. There was still no mention of any of this on Panini's auction page during the auction. It just said 3 Prizm Choice numbered parallels or something like that. I think Choice Prizms from all other years are in the 80s and lower. Big difference between /20 or less and /80 or less. The email today said 2 autos but the box image in the email still only showed 1 auto on the box.

I was thinking about taking a chance at the floor and hoping the email is accurate. These somehow "sold out" at I think $708 with zero high volume. I added to cart just to get it there probably a couple minutes before sellout in 1 click.

If the email is accurate still no idea why people would buy this at $708-$833 versus Prizm FOTL last week at $1218-$1425. Those Choice boxes most of the value is those 3 Choice Prizms if they are /20 or less. 2 silvers are worth what $15 each? 1 other unnumbered card. 2 autos, assuming the email description and not box image in the email is correct, but who has any idea what the odds are on being numbered. If this actually sold out at $708 virtually every buyer that paid tax paid around $750 or more. You figure many had to have bought before that and paid $800-$900. They are basically valuing those 3 cards at $500+. Obviously, Choice parallels are worth less than regular Prizm parallels. The 3 low numbered Prizm FOTL parallels weren't being valued anywhere close to that much during the auction, but somehow Choice Prizms were? With no idea if the info is even accurate? OK.
from sources i heard 50% of the boxes were still available when panini pulled them at 708

That would probably line up with FOTL. There was most likely around 1000-1100 orders for 1266 cases on FOTL. Figure give or take 50% there too. It's absolute bs.

The hobby is not for individual Box/Case purchasers anymore unless someone wants to buy a very expensive lottery ticket.

This is not a fresh take. I would not buy new boxes from Panini under any condition and THEY KNOW IT. They figure a certain percentage of individuals will take the ill-advised plunge and the rest will get moved anyway. So, who cares?

What a strange hobby it is these days.

Yup, if it keeps selling out I see no reason for Panini to drop prices, they'd be stupid to do so. Let them degens keep opening it while I keep on scooping singles for dirt cheap

Depends on your interpretation of hobby. Ripping waxes and packs is always gambling, it's just the ante got much higher lately. Collecting though, has always been the same. I'd argue it's even better now with more variation of cards so you can choose which one you really want

They were having a conversation today on the morning radio show I listen to about how "high end" liquors were going down in price...

Of course they are, cause people got tired of having to pay second hand prices and stopped doing it... so that means less is sold...

You'd like to think the same thing would happen with the card market, but no light at the end of the tunnel just yet...

Could this be the biggest $ boxbreaker ass kicking in the history of the hobby daily on youtube? It's glorious.

The sheer amount of wax produced vs being busted is so nuts.

There isn't a single Patty 2024 card listed on eBay right now that I am remotely interested in. Quite literally overpriced flaming hot kaka

At least Panini has the hobby boxes $150 less than D&A / Steel City.
My guess is all LCSs will be $1099.
I haven't bought these since 2020 - which only contained 1 auto per box.
When did this change to 2?

Jumbo/Hobby boxes have always had 2 autos. Well, sometimes you might get points.

2020 box

https://www.blowoutcards.com/2020-pa...hobby-box.html

Just checking and 2018 and 2019 had 3 autos per hobby box.

It is still a hobby. It's just become a high stakes, unregulated, highly manipulated, big money hobby.

I don't have the bandwidth for what's going on right now and my participation is modest.

Still a hobby to me.

Put it this way, when I was 10 buying packs, there was always the concept that the card was worth money. I remember in 1992, I pulled a Bo Jackson Fleer RC from a $0.25c machine and it was worth $20 then.

Amazing how many kids I see around in card shows carrying around thousands of dollars in cards.

Me too. The breaker, Run Good Life- cracked one box and pretty much admitted that most of the Prizm FOTL boxes are like throwing money out the window unless you get a miracle box. In his 1 box, He literally got 2 coach autos, and most of his numbered/colored cards were no name vets. It was awful $1600 spent, maybe $300 ROI

This is my favorite part about this hobby. People bust the boxes for crazy prices and I get to buy singles on the cheap. Thank you everyone for breaking boxes these days. You guys are the true hobby heroes.
