They said that they checked and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

Just have to take their word for it, but are we surprised, Topps/Fanatics have missing hit issues all the time.

X #1 9.93 x7 12.47 2.54
X#2 9.92 12.47 2.55
My Packs 9.92 12.75 2.83

I did rough conversions and I'm confused. If mine is actually more more, it's likely an error I'm guessing.

quoted my own post wth weights

Guess we are starting early. My box shipped!

I thought the general BO consensus was that weighing packs and boxes was a terrible, horrible thing that only losers did?

I mean, why would all of you be interested in weighing packs unless you're planning on opening the heavier ones and selling the lighter ones? And when you do sell the lighter ones, will you note that you have weighed them and they are likely to contain nothing but base cards?

Or is it that it's only a bad thing when others do it?

Just trying to understand the rules.

Well I want to say I am doing this for myself with the intent to keep another sealed pack for my collection.

Just based on the griftiness and quality of this release. From my perspective anyway.

I only purchased 2 packs tho .

I do agree that weighing packs sucks though, and I definitely don't feel great doing it in this case.

My four packs arrived today and ripped them all. Have 2 more boxes that haven't shipped yet.

Didn't hit any chrome parallels but was lucky to hit a Kanji SSP of HR #41

that's awesome. I'm going to open both of mine probably now, knowing I could hit a kanji.

It used to be frowned upon, but now the degens support the other degens given how desperate the times have become.

Just linking the checklist for reference

https://www.topps.com/amfile/file/download/file/3663/

Looks like Kanji are considered SSP and exist for every card #1-100.
The celebration variation SP is only for card #100 (HR #50) and has numbered parallels as well.

Spreading awareness is important so others don't get scammed but here's the attention you ordered

I see it more as the community revolting against a product that Topps pushed down everyone's throat then created it incredibly cheaply and lazily at an incredibly gouged price.

Go ahead and weigh. I'm perfectly fine with it on this product. They deserve the bad press.

100%. Already gave my $ to Topps about 3 months ago it seems. Not doing that again if I can help it.

Sometimes, people are so narrowly focused on the "negatives" that they completely overlook the "positives".

When I purchase wax (packs/boxes), whether directly from the manufacturer or on the secondary market, I want to know all of the issues that might be associated with them.

Fortunately, I didn't buy any of these Ohtani 50/50 packs/boxes as there's clearly weighing issues (in both pack/box formats) but I'm mostly a wax flipper (I rip a fraction of what I buy with most being held/flipped towards recouping costs).

We knew the product was weighable from the mock ups at release. Don’t know why anyone needs actual weights or would weigh their own product.

Weighing won't help you hit the top chase cards, they are redemptions

I'm glad ppl here on BO are upfront about which products can be weighed.

Obviously it's up to each person how they handle that information, but as a consumer, I appreciate knowing as much information about a purchase a possible before making a decision.

As a collector of Ohtani cards, and Topps/Fanatics being blessed with the license during this break out year for the man… I find the lack of effort put into the production of these cards disgraceful.

I hate the perspective of lottery ticket releases. A card set like this should have stats on the back corresponding to the game played. Each of these events in his 50/50 season has a story to it. A three HR game… a game winning grand slam… a stolen base on a bad wheel b… I mean… geeze. At 100 cards, I’m sure your writers could have written something to commemorate each stolen base and each home run. That kind of task could have been done in a weeks time if not sooner. Absolutely lazy.
Nay sayers are right, this set could have been more than a lottery ticket.

MLB should really consider selling the license to Upper Deck.
