For example an orange refractor falls at a rate of 1/757 for hobby while it falls at 1/1,322 per value box. Almost half as likely to pull it per pack does not scale with the $5-3.50 cost. I found similar odds for other parallels. Add the auto chance to that and I see no reason to choose blasters over hobby boxes. I may be missing something though.

We ran the numbers based on the original MSRP.

Refractors - https://www.blowoutforums.com/showpo...&postcount=452

Inserts - https://www.blowoutforums.com/showpo...&postcount=458

Autographs - https://www.blowoutforums.com/showpo...&postcount=462

At the time Blasters were the best price to Refractors, Xfractors, and a handful of other refractor parallels and inserts. If hobby has dropped from $140 to $120, it almost erases the advantage the $60 Mega boxes has over hobby. Blasters still maintain their value for Refractors, Xfractors, and exclusive Pink Refractors.

Now if people can get blasters at $20 per, then that changes things.

The hobby price hasn't dropped that much. The absolute cheapest I can find is $135. The cheapest blaster case I can get is $20/box. So I would say those numbers still hold true. I also counted 33% more base cards in my original calculation and of course the pinks. I had 600 pinks and 33% more base cards in my blaster break while still pulling 100+ numbered cards and 20+ autos. Two superfractors.

Numbers don't lie. Blasters still win.

How many did you open? I only did a 40 box case which is what i based my info on.

If you are chasing set building, Ref's, x's and the pinks it is absolutely the way to go. Bas3d on odds you definitely outkicked your coverage with the two supers.

Im just glad that topps has once again made retail viable for collectors. Congrats on killing those cases!!

I did 200 blasters (5 cases). At that time, my choice was down to 5 blaster cases or 3 hobby cases + $600 and change. The math supported the blasters, and yes I do a lot of sets and player lots as those are great ways to re-sell so I prefer the quantity.

Cost also matters. I paid $880 for those cases and today my supplier is down to $800 for a 40-box case. Hobby would have to come down quite a bit more for me to start considering that option. This stuff sells great year-round so its never too late to jump back in depending where prices settle. It all eventually moves. I did 200 player lots in 2023 and I'm down to less than 25%. It doesn't sell all at once, of course, but over the year I was able to liquidate most of my 2023 and came out 4-figures in profit so I was hoping to follow the same path this year.

Thats awesome! If i could find blaster cases like that i would follow suit as well. I was pretty happy with my overall results. I have really enjoyed the sapphire release this year as well.

Without a doubt at 800 a blaster case its a complete no brainer. I did the same thing mcdonalds chrome AA last year and i still am makimgbmoney selling players from that set!

Great work all the way around!

2 box sapphire break highlights - always my best and most fun break of the year two years running now…..

Two /10 in the same box.

Results like this make me think a Jeanty or Williams #’d auto was in that 3rd and 4th box I didn’t buy

Trying to get work wrapped up for the week so i can get back home.. Was bored tonight so i hoped on fanatics live and had two sapphire boxes opened.

Firat box had a Mikey Keene orange auto and some solid color.

Second box was much better.

Nice little Cam ward color match.

Im suprised. Yet with Christmas just passing that could explain the reason.

Congrats on getting the cases though. I wish i had been able to get more initially.

Sapphire was fantastic this year. I skipped BB last year, but I remember it seeming even better than Sapphire - we thinking that's going to happen again this year?

I doubt it. At first glance it looks like they at least 2x'd the PR on Best U this year.

Agreed on 2024 Sapphire being fantastic. I've received all my break packages and the cards are in such great condition.

I had a miserable experience with the QC of the Bowman Best cards in last year's set. So many dinged back corners. It was awful. The signers and insert designs were great, but so many of mine were beat up. The cards even felt cheap in hand. If they can fix all that, then perhaps they can compete with the Sapphire release.
