What game did he use it in? I’m surprised nobody realized he used it before this.

knowing Topps the bat was likely game used and the inscription added later. If so what a weak attempt.

Also why put 1 of 1 when they are traditionally known for 1/1 ? Kinda weird

Is transcendant actually paying homage to the infamous b Ripken card?
This is a high end top shelf big boy set ?
And they are doing this ?
Interesting

They paid homage to the card in 24 Series 1 as this was an unannounced SP and they also copied the major other corrections (black squiggles, black box, white squiggles, white box and the buzz cut).

And, from what I remember hearing about it, prices for those cards were high and, we the sheeple, gobbled it up.

That's a pretty neat card. Funny to see people upset about it...if Topps does nothing cool, they suck and they apparently STILL suck if they actually do something cool.

Yeah, I have no idea why people here seem cranky about it. It’s a cool card. No one is forcing anyone to buy it.

Agreed. I love it! It's not something I would collect, but I loved the homage in Series 2 and the fact that they put that knob in Transcendent is just cool.

Obviously, everyone is free to like or dislike anything. But the fact that every neat addition Topps does to try to make cards more interesting gets crapped on here is really annoying.

Ok that's hilarious whether Jackson was involved or if someone from Topps added it.

It's because it's a chase card in a product that most people can't afford. If this was a chase card in something like Update, people would be losing their mind over it.

"Fun face" is the epitome of lazy and half-baked retreads that are the new norm for the hobby. Is "Fun Face" an insult or a phrase that anyone has ever used? At least the original moniker made sense and arose organically.

Hey Jackson, you're a Fun Face!

Mere half-baked, low effort content that people will fall over.

Typical online culture. Everything sucks, apparently.

For older collectors like me, this card is friggin' hilarious.

I'm thinking about how I'd explain the card to someone who knew nothing about baseball:

Years ago there was this middling player, and he had a baseball card. It wouldn't have been worth anything except one of his teammates wrote an insult containing the F Word on the bat he was holding in his picture, and no one caught it before it got printed.

Oh, okay, that's kind of funny.

Then the manufacturers tried to fix it once they realized it, so there were several different variations of the card with different attempts to censor it.

Okay. So some versions were more valuable.

Yeah, different versions became sought after. It still has some notoriety even though the player never became famous.

Okay.

So thirty-something years later, the same manufacturer ran a similar gimmick with another player.

Nice, was it the first guy's son?

No, just another guy on the same team who stood kind of the same way.

Oh, gotcha.

Except this time, it said Fun Face.

Okay. Is the new guy really good or something?

He could be. He has a lot of potential even though he was awful last year. Oh, and then they cut the piece of the bat that says Fun Face and put it on a card.

Okay.

It says Fun Face. It's hilarious.

Okay.

That’s a lot of words to say “I’m not fun at parties.”

It wasn't the same manufacturer. The Ripken FF was a Fleer card.

To be fair, that's exactly the response I'd expect if I was explaining any card to someone who knew nothing about baseball or cards.

Who cares....it's Transcendent....a product nobody except for the few high rollers who have $25K sitting around can afford.

Just be glad that this is only the second product it made its way into. They easily could have run it into the ground.

There was one cranky person. I asked what game it was used in. Still waiting on someone to figure it out. I looked through Getty yesterday and couldn’t find it. But obviously pics of the bat knob are limited.
