I have 2 outstanding cards coming in from Cananda from eBay purchases. Both bought right before the strike. I'm waiting it out, but I have been in contact with both sellers.

One I followed for a few weeks, then finally bought with BIN. I definitely would NOT expect them to edit every listing they had already listed to put "there might be a postal strike in the near future".

I probably would not expect the Auction I won to mention it, neither. They might have been aware it was impending, but who knows. I doubt anyone assumed it would last this long. I thought it would be settled before the Holiday rush.

I had a buyer open an item not received for an order shipping to Canada. They seemed to be unaware of the strike (or they were playing dumb). As a seller, I don't typically pay attention to other countries and not researching if their postal services are having issues and if I did, it would be all speculation.

Anyway, ebay would not allow me to put a message in the opened case so I reached out to the buyer and let them know the details and of course, no response back. As a seller I feel bad but I didn't know that when the package was shipped that the Canadian Post would go on strike. Really not sure if ebay will just hold the case open until the strike is over or process a refund and somehow get the item returned to me.

This will be the last post I make on this.

I apologize if I came off defensive. I was genuinely looking for input from other members. So that’s my bad on that. Just didn’t expect to get the replies I did.

People have made good points and I can see it was unreasonable to hope for that in the description. I would never rip off a seller. I know it’s out of their control so I will be holding off until I receive the card. It was a gift for a secret Santa I’m in so just sucks I won’t be getting it in time.

Thanks again to everyone and happy collecting.

This post was updated a few weeks ago, but does have some information about the situation (mostly for sellers).

I'd say yes its wrong to request a refund. It sounds like the package was shipped out before the work stoppage took place, we can't really assume that the seller would automatically know if it was a complete stoppage/partial stoppage before it actually was enacted. I would just wait for it or if I really needed to (like you said it wouldn't be to hard to find another) get a copy of the card I'd just purchase another while waiting

The Industrial Relations Board ordered the posties back to work. The union has chosen to comply with the order. As of Tuesday Dec 17, mail is moving again. Some outlets are accepting new mail. The union stated that delivery will resume on Thursday Dec 19.

It's gonna be a gongshow.

The USPS is once again accepting mail headed to Canada.....likely still delays due to the backlog.

I have 2 orders on eBay to ship since 12/12. Even though USPS is allowing packages, I still cannot generate a label through ebay as of this morning. Ebay hasnt even given me an update to when this will be resolved and the person I talked to yesterday just said "we piggyback off of the USPS system"

Luckily one of the buyers is super understanding I cant control this, but this is absurd.

I am now seeing incoming packages from the US to Canada cross customs and head my way. These were mailed after USPS started accepting them again. I'm also receiving PWE again.

I think there are still some delays but it's getting close to normal.

Update:
I've received 1 of the 2 cards.

So they're slowly making their way into the USA

Forgot to update. About a week later I received the 2nd package I was waiting on.

I hope everyone has gotten what they bought from Canada before/during the strike
