I don't understand all of the hypothetical trades on the twitters involving Marcus Stroman and getting any valuable players in return. I can't see a scenario where any team has interest in Stroman and his contract and giving up a quality return.

Stroman is a No. 5 starter at best, making $18M. I know it's an expiring contract, so one-year commitment, but still.

Most people don't understand trade values. Twitter is maybe only 1 step above sports talk radio callers.

Yea, the only scenario where a team takes on all of Stroman's money is if he goes to the A's (because they need to boost their payroll) or if the Yanks are taking on a similar amount of money in return.

This was clearly demonstrated by the Mets when they traded Verlander and Scherzer, if you want a prospect back you're paying the salary. If you want to shed salary, you're not getting anything of value back. In fact you might need to throw in a prospect to get them to take the salary.

Correct. Stroman has to have very little value to anyone right now since he couldn't even finish last season in the rotation for the Yankees. If we trade him, we get a prospect ranked between 25-40 in the organization for someone take his salary. Or we pay for him to get something of value, but even then it's not going to be a starter

Probably going to the Asian Dodgers. Or are they know known as the Pacific Ocean Dodgers?

The only thing we've heard for weeks is all the hoops he made teams jump through. If he just ends up signing with the Dodgers after all that, I would never participate in that trash ever again if I were one on of the other teams. Borderline embarrassing.

Yeah if he signs with the Dodgers like everyone expected, I think there will be some blowback on other Japanese players that try to come over. They're going to have to prove they're actually serious about playing for other teams.

Yeah we get Holmes and Rizzo Series 1 cards along with 3 rookies: Ben Rice, Will Warren, and Carlos Narvaez. Soto league leader card and 5 Judge cards.

I am actually okay with them holding on to Stroman versus getting nothing really in return. I can see a role for him as long-relief or possibly an interim starter when the inevitible injuries happen.

We'll never know because the Yankees refuse to promote talented prospects, and then stick with them through the ups and downs to find their footing.

Volpe is the anomaly, not the normal for the Yankees.

Reading the first part of you post I was like "isn't that exactly what they did with Volpe?" lol. I think they are willing to give guys more leash if they're better defensively, but they too often stick with vets who can't hit.

In the past ten years what Yankee prospect has prospered elsewhere and we wish we had back?

I'll agree on Whitlock, the only other one I can think of is King.

Well, we got Soto for him, and we can get him back after next year!
