Default 2025 MLB award winner predictions!

Who do you have for MVP/Cy Young?
To make it more interesting I like to throw out a "low hanging fruit" pick and a dark horse.

AL:
MVP: Bobby Witt: The guys a stud and obviously 1 of the favorites.
Dark Horse: Mike Trout: Just in 2022 he played 119 games to the tune of a 6.2 bref WAR. If he can get a miracle healthy season we could see 1 last MVP for magic Mike.
Honorable mention to a healthy Royce Lewis.

Cy Young:
Cole Ragans: I will admit I am biased. Skubal is probably the real favorite, but as far as innings and k's I think Skubal amd Ragans are alone at the top in the AL.

Dark Horse: Mason Miller: If the A's randomly decide to make him a starter his path becomes easier. But he's the most electric closer in the league. And no, I don't care that he is on the A's.

NL:
MVP: Ohtani: After the Roki signing I'm so sour. Whatever, moving on.

Dark Horse: Oneil Cruz: Sky is the moon on him.

Cy Young: Paul Skenes: Dude was wild last year.

Dark Horse: Tyler Glasnow: It all just depends on health.

Honorable mention Roki Sasaki: He throws gas. If he is healthy again he could be anything. And he has a filthy splitter.

AL MVP: Mike Trout, Aaron Judge, Bobby Witt Jr.
AL Cy Young: Tarik Skubal
AL ROY: Jackson Jobe, Travis Bazzana, Noah Schultz

NL MVP: Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Kyle Tucker
NL Cy Young: Paul Skenes
NL ROY: Matt Shaw, Dylan Crews, Andrew Painter

I omitted Roki because although I like him, I think he will be alright this year and break out in 2-3 years.

If they run him he's probably in the 5 figure range. Arraez is +15000 he's probably around there maybe a little more expensive. I LOVE Toglia but I don't think he has a shot for MVP. He could hit 40 if all goes right but he's probably bat .230 and not be contending for an MVP. A guy I love to draft in fantasy.

I think Roki is going to take the league in stride!

How are people seriously mentioning Michael Toglia in a thread about potential MVPs? Guy’s a 26-year-old career .206 hitter on a perennial last-place team….

I think DeGrom is a must fire getting +1100. Pretty simple, he has best stuff in history of baseball so you are getting 11-1 he stays healthy for an entire season. If he starts 32 games, he just wins it.

Miller also worth a gamble to me just in case he starts. Stuff just to good and non 0 chance he could post gagne like seasons and win it as a closer if A's make wild card run.

As far as guys that don't happen to be my favorite players I really like Logan Gilbert at +1200 also

NL Cy Young: If skenes stays healthy he wins it so will def fire him +300 to be healthy for a seasons. In terms of other gambles in case he gets hurt, like King at +2500 and Spencer Stirder at +2500 is a must fire. Spencer Schwellenbach
at +3500 a dark horse candidate also.

Best bet: give me the Degrom/Strider parlay $500 wins 150k

Dark Horse: Corbin Carroll.

I'm guessing he had some shoulder issues at the beginning of the season that hurt his performance. If he can stay healthy and Ohtani doesn't have a Monster Year, he could emerge as a contender.

I don’t see a Cy Young for any Dodgers pitcher, not cause they won’t win a ton of games but they will be a 6-man rotation with Ohtani being back so the starters will get less chances. Granted if one of them runs with their starts and goes undefeated then they probably will win it but that’s doubtful.

If they don't miss starts it's very possible. Look at the innings totals of all the guys last year. Not many guys go 200 anymore.

Surprised JRod gets no mention. I think this could be a year for him in the AL.

JRod simply isn't anywhere near the kind of hitter Witt, Gunnar, or Judge are if all four of those guys have healthy seasons. JRod has never demonstrated the kind of plate discipline necessary to be an MVP candidate.

It's possible JRod could have a great year, but 2025 is a big "prove it" year for him. He has to avoid yet another ice cold start and nagging injuries.

JRod is an exciting player though, so I'm rooting for him. But right now he's dangerously closer to Luis Robert than he is to the MVP contenders I mentioned above than most people realize.

I will predict:

AL MVP - Gunnar Henderson (BAL)
AL CY YOUNG - Tarik Skubal (DET)
AL ROY - Roman Anthony (BOS)

NL MVP - Shohei Ohtani (LAD)
NL CY YOUNG - Yoshinobu Yamamoto (LAD)
NL ROY - Roki Sasaki (LAD) (I would go with James Wood (WAS) but don't think he is elegible)

Gotta hope he isn't traded to the NL midseason.

Absolutely. With Soto and Ohtani in the NL, the field there will be tight.

A few teams on a set 6-man rotation, but a lot of teams are also on an unofficial 6-man rotation, or will be forced into one at some point. There were tons of “bullpen games” across the league last year.
