I am not worried. At this point I feel confident they will only continue to go up as long as Ohtani is healthy and playing.

BTW...have you pick up any new Ohtani cards this off season?

Yes, i have been working on picking up non-gem slabs of his 2024 Topps Card. its been going pretty slowly as not many are listed for auction.

i think the only First Card i would like that is realistic is his Bowman Chrome PSA 9. But think they are still well above $150 so i dont need it that badly

my collecting net is cast very wide, so i am easily distracted

I am really excited for Ohtani this season. I think being a two way player and pitching every 6th day will be good for his career/longevity. Would love for him to be like LeBron James or Tom Brady and play into his forties and still dominate

I felt so inundated with all the collecting options in 2018 (S2, TC, Update, TCU, Bowman, Heritage, HHN, Finest, etc). I had chrome parallels a bit higher on the totem pole but glad I had the awareness to keep this one copy

I am thinking of collecting Roki, but can't imagine how awful it would be today versus 2018. And expensive. Bet you his rookie stuff costs more than Sho on release.

i dont get the Roki appeal from a hobby standpoint.
Yamamoto is a dud. i just picked up his First Sapphire PSA 9 for $30
Mookie struggles and Freddie is now back to irrelevant.

I think Yamamoto is going to fully adjust this year after studying off-season data. I would hold judgement there. I did not buy any but if he has a slow start to the year, I can be convinced.

Roki is more of a "bet on the dream" type of guy. He wagered on himself to come two years early and forgo a likely $100M+ guarantee. That kind of person is going to work their a** off and do everything to get better. That's a big reason why I jumped in the deep end with Sho. Roki is no TWP but I feel like he will be easy to root for even if it just becomes a strict PC.

its Sho's team. that means that everyone else is fighting for second place.

i am of the belief that it is VERY VERY difficult for the hobby to support two players on one team, and damn near impossible for there to be three

It would be asinine to suggest this isn't Sho's team, but I see what you're saying.

I don't think any team is going to have as many eye balls on them as the dodgers next year. So if there's any team that can be the exception to # of hobby good players, it's them.

But yeah, pitchers in general are not a good hobby bet. I would have to substantiate Roki as a personal interest

. Price dependent of course.
